Here are a few pieces of advice to help the students with their revision for the listening exam...
Make sure you are
confident with the topics
These are the only topics and types of music that
will be on the exam.
Revise the vocabulary linked to the topics
Start with one topic and use the orange text book to read up on it, identify technical words linked to the topic and look them up in your glossary.
Create a mind map for each topic
Start with a topic such as ‘Voice and
Accompaniment’ and mind map
‘Romantic Song’ and then ‘Pop ballad’.
Always start with what you can remember without your notes first and then add to the mind map afterwards.
Listen to Music
The revision notes and the text book have examples to listen to on youtube. This is really important!
Use the past papers, CD and mark scheme
This will help with exam technique.
