Employment Opportunity Position: Certified Peer Specialist Number of openings: 2 Location: A Better Way Clubhouse in Marshfield, WI Wage: $13.00 per hour Hours Per Week: 0-20 hours. Hours are dependent upon need and MILC cannot guarantee that any work hours will be made available in a given pay period to the employee. This employee will be called upon when current staff are not able to work or additional staff is needed. This is a Limited Term position through 05/31/14. Deadline to apply: 10/02/13 by 5 p.m. JOB SUMMARY: Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) are persons who have not only lived the experience of mental illness but also have had formal training in the peer specialist model of mental health supports for adults. They use their unique set of recovery experiences in combination with solid skills training to support peers who have mental illness. QUALIFICATIONS: Peer Specialist Certification is required. Identify as a person in mental health recovery and intentionally share personal recovery story as appropriate to assist consumers, providing hope and help in changing patterns and behaviors Ability to maintain confidentiality of consumer information required. Knowledge of disability rights and commitment to Independent Living philosophy required. Working knowledge of community resources required. Experience in the delivery of presentations and training to groups preferred. Knowledge of Assistive Technology and related resources preferred. Good oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and ability to problem-solve required. Valid WI driver's license, reliable vehicle with proof of insurance and the ability to drive preferred or have access to reliable transportation. Working knowledge of and ability to use computer required.
