manejo de la velocidad y las distancias
As a professional driver, staying out of
at-risk situations and avoiding accidents
needs to be your top priority.
You can accomplish this by exercising
good speed and space management skills.
Speed management means adjusting
your vehicle's speed to current traffic,
weather and road conditions. Space
management means allowing an
adequate safety cushion between you and
the vehicle(s) directly in front, behind
and to the sides of your truck.
Como conductor profesional, su
principal prioridad debe ser evitar
situaciones riesgosas y accidentes. You
can accomplish this by exercising good
speed and space management skill Puede
lograrlo si pone en práctica habilidades
de manejo de velocidad y distancias
adecuadas. El manejo de la velocidad
implica ajustar la velocidad del vehículo
al tránsito, las condiciones climáticas y
las condiciones de la carretera de ese
momento. El manejo de las distancias
implica dejar una distancia de seguridad
adecuada entre usted y los vehículos que
se encuentren directamente delante,
detrás y al lado de su camión.

high-risk driving situations before they
become emergencies—look ahead!
➣ Understand that your vehicle takes
longer to come to a complete stop than
other vehicles.
➣ Constantly scan your mirrors: look to
the sides and to the rear.
➣ Maintain a safety cushion around your
vehicle.
➣ Never follow other vehicles too closely
(Don’t tailgate!).
➣ Know what is above and below your
vehicle…look above for overhanging
wires, branches, and signs; look below for
road debris, raised pavement and potholes
➣Manténgase alerta para identificar
peligros y situaciones viales
potencialmente riesgosos antes de que se
conviertan en emergencias.¡Mire hacia
adelante!
➣ Recuerde que su vehículo tarda más
en detenerse completamente que otros
vehículos.
➣ Mire los espejos constantemente: look
to the sides and to the rear.mire hacia los
cables, ramas y letreros sobresalientes;
mire hacia abajo para detectar residuos en
la carretera, pavimento levantado y
baches.
