Call for Design Fellow The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) is offering a one-year fellowship for an emerging design expert to generate graphic content for CAMH exhibitions, events, and programs. The Design Fellow is part of the Community Engagement department and works cross-departmentally to generate large portions of the visual output of the museum relating to both print and digital media as well as other duties as assigned. The Design Fellow assists in developing handouts, labels, invitations, advertisements, and other visual content to be used online and/or in print. For print jobs, the Design Fellow will oversee the entire printing process: writing reproduction specifications, selecting ink, paper, and print quality; preparing files for production, and inspecting proofs for accuracy. This opportunity is perfect for those seeking to expand their portfolio and lay the foundations for a long-term career in the arts. This is a part-time position and hours in the museum office are flexible. A modest stipend of $2000/semester will be offered along with access to a range of design equipment. The fellowship may last one semester or up to a year depending on the candidate’s availability. Desired Candidates: · Must possess strong writing and organization skills, including the ability to meet strict deadlines. · Will be highly flexible and adept at making materials for a variety of museum audiences. · Will effectively multi-task within a team environment while being self-directed. · Must be extremely proficient in a variety of software and equipment, including the Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant applications. · Will operate within the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston’s current workflow and brand aesthetic. · Will have a B.A. or higher in Graphic Design or related field.
