or above in either Middle School Spanish 1 or
High School Spanish 1.
Length: 1 year

Overall Description of Course
This is a college preparatory course which features moderate pacing and a moderate workload,
with teacher guidance to assist in the mastery of the material. Each quarter students will
complete 1 unit (2 lessons). Students will be expected to review and memorize vocabulary or
grammar concepts covered in class at home daily, complete an average of 5 homework
assignments per week as well as prepare for weekly or bi-weekly assessments. Spanish 2
students progress toward meeting the challenges of competitive college work, developing higher
order thinking skills and continuing to develop independence both inside and outside the
classroom.

ASSIGNMENTS
ASSIGNMENTS
Workbook pages, Daily homework assignments: exercises found in the book or the
workbook, handouts, written sentences, etc. Usually worth 5 points, sometimes more
depending on the nature and complexity of the assignment.
ASSESSMENTS
1) Frequent quizzes: especially for new vocabulary and grammatical concepts introduced
in the Lesson. Usually worth 20 points.
2) Tests: at the conclusion of the Lesson there will be a comprehensive Lesson test that
covers all new material introduced and requires knowledge of previous lessons.
Usually worth from 60-100 points.
3) Oral and written assessment, small to medium sized projects. Normally worth from 1550 points.
All grades will be calculated using the Radnor High School Grading scale that can be found in
the student handbook.
