For Immediate Release Inspired Kitchen Spaces Designed For Living NuDesign – Booth #934 January 21, 2010 Toronto, Canada AyA Kitchens and Baths Ltd., Canada’s foremost manufacturer of high quality, frameless cabinetry is proud to announce the return of NuDesign to the 2010 Interior Design Show. NuDesignis a collaboration of AyA Kitchens, leading Interior Designer Jane Lockhart, host of W Network’s Colour Confidential and principal designer for Jane Lockhart Design Communications Inc., and luxury appliance manufacturer Sub Zero/Wolf to design the ultimate kitchen space for AyA’s NuDesign booth at the 2010 Interior Design Show. A KITCHEN FOR LIVING @ IDS10 As you enter AyA’s NuDesign kitchen space you are immediately drawn to the striking balance between everyday living and sleek sophistication. This inspired kitchen/living/dining room is truly a multifunctional space. Unique design elements contribute to the seamlessness of the living area, the dining area and the kitchen. A counter-height maple wheat coloured table is installed on casters to effortlessly transform the space from a galley-style kitchen to a user-friendly U-shaped kitchen whenever more prep space is required. When dining or entertaining, the table can easily become an independent dining table that accommodates up to 8 people. Another key feature that melds the functionalities and the aesthetics of the space is the selfcontained fireplace which is cleverly built into the island providing a visual focal point for the living room area. Sophisticated furnishings in a luxe gunmetal upholstery custom designed by Jane Lockhart exclusively for AyA’s NuDesign booth create a comfy, relaxing lounge area. A combination of cork and prefinished pecan hardwood floors create an open and airy feel to the space and create a subtle visual division of the space. Providing the style-savvy backdrop and sophistication to this unique space is gorgeous contrasting cabinetry in a combination of AyA’s Lumina back-painted glass doors in Anthracite and SoHo FSC certified maple slab doors in AyA’s new Wheat finish. The luster of the reflective glass doors adds sparkle while complimenting the warm Wheat stain of the maple doors. The cabinetry, from AyA’s LEED compliant EVOTM line of green cabinetry is FSC certified and emission free as it is made with materials containing no-added urea-formaldehyde. The flush inset Sub Zero refrigerator, paneled and installed to match the cabinetry allows the appliance to be seamlessly integrated into the space. Minimalisit,European styling is most evident in the Wolf appliances - such as the unframed black ceramic cooktop installed flush with the counter top. The cleverly designed waterfall countertop in Carbono from SileStone’s new Platinum Series, adds a stylishly practical finishing touch to the kitchen. “This year’s kitchen features a design that accommodates multiple functions in one comprehensive space.Designed for living this kitchen has been designed not only as a working kitchen but one that offers design flexibility allowing the family to instantly transform the space as required for dining, relaxing, and entertaining. All surfaces are visually textured for durabilty and warmth while cabinets are a combination of natural wood for comfort and glass for a modern feel. An inviting seating area with a long sofa, chair and an integrated eco-friendly fireplace create a gathering spot that is functional, highly durable and comfortable. A modern and graphic colour scheme of charcoal grey and tangerine mixed with easy-care natural materials bring the room to life. This concept space is designed with sustainability as a strong element fusing natural materials such as wood with new modern ones like quartz and glass. This space's integrated nature is not space-age but rather comfortable and elegant, almost famillar but with the newest use of green technology, designed for the needs of modern family living!” Jane Lockhart -----------------------------------Jane Lockhart Design Communications Inc. www.janelockhart.com AyA’S NuDesign Since December 2008, NuDesign represents a collaboration of industry experts to create the ultimate in kitchen spaces.
