Social Studies Project – Due Wednesday, November 18th Requirements: o Each student will complete an individual project related to an ancient civilization that can be found in our textbook. Each student will choose something about an ancient civilization to research. Choices include but are not limited to: a person, a place, an object, an area, a god, ancient writing such as hieroglyphics, a time period, a class system, or other practices of an ancient civilization. If you have an idea other than those listed above please speak to me about it. After researching your topic, you must provide a presentation of some type to display your information. This can include: Costume/speech (This is only available to those who choose a person. Dress as that character and present a speech to the class as if you were that person telling about yourself. You will turn in your speech. Poster – should include a title, pictures/graphics, and captions that tell about the topic. Diagram – clearly labeled, detailed information about the process or item that is being described. Mural or wall painting (can use for hieroglyphics.) Banner (This can be used for a timeline. Timelines must include 10 – 12 events that use pictures/graphics and a description of the events) Tri-fold display (Must include both pictures or graphics and captions of information.) Scroll (This is acceptable for those working with ancient writing) Model/Sculpture – information about the item you have modeled should be typed or neatly handwritten and turned in to the teacher. (1 – 2 pages) Puppets or paper dolls with a typed story. The story must be about an ancient civilization and contain the dialogue that is exchanged between the characters. Display cube (Each of the six sides should have a picture/graphic and 3 – 5 sentences of factual information printed or typed neatly on it. You may use a cardboard box, but please wrap it in a solid color paper so that no words or advertisements are showing beneath your work). An ORIGINAL PowerPoint Presentation Other suggestions are welcome. It must be some type of VISUAL presentation to be accepted. Please get prior approval from me before you begin a different type of project. To choose your topic, I would suggest looking through your textbook.
