Recycling in Whitesboro in 2010
Recycling made easy for Whitesboro residents. Its curbside and NO you do not have to separate
or sort any items. All is requested is that you participate in the program, IESI Corporation does
the rest. Place your recyclables in the green plastic tub supplied to you by city hall during your
utility hook up and place by the curb every other Thursday by 7:00AM and relax. Shortly, an
employee of IESI will drive by your home and empty your tub leaving it behind for the next trip.
You do not need to sort or separate the items, just rinse, drop in the tub, place by the curb on
your scheduled Thursday and wait for the driver. Once emptied, remove from the curb and start
recycling for the next pickup date. Larger items may be taken to the Wilson Street Yards and
placed in the containers at that location. Operation hours for Wilson Street Yard is M-F, 8AM to
5PM.
Recyclables include the following:
White Paper, Newspaper, Cardboard (broken down), catalogs, envelopes.
Tin cans (rinsed), aluminum, clear glass, green glass, brown glass, and the following plastics:
#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #7 (no #6 or Styrofoam).
How to determine if your product is recyclable is easy. On the label there should be a circle of
arrows (see example). This circle could also contain a number and the number should be one
listed above. If it has the recycle circle, and it is not Styrofoam, it should be placed in the recycle
box for pickup.
Pickup dates are ever other Thursday and it is separated by the West Side and East Side of
Union Street. Here is a calendar to help you stay on track. Questions, please call City Hall.
