This is a textbook list for evening classes – L sections.


R sections (MW classes) are Reading, Writing & Grammar. Faculty teaching R sections
will choose from:
a) Focus on Writing textbooks already leveled for our program. You most likely will
have to supplement with reading and grammar.
b) Reading Skills textbooks already leveled for our program. You most likely will
have to supplement with writing and grammar.
L sections (TTh classes) are Speaking, Listening & Grammar. Faculty teaching L sections
will choose from:
a) Integrated Skills textbooks already leveled for our program, preferably. These
books are very communicative and have more grammar built in.
b) A second possibility is a Speaking and Listening text already leveled for our
program. Most likely you will need to supplement heavily with grammar. If you
want to choose a speaking and listening text, please run your choice by the
faculty coordinator before you order the text.
A few more things to remember:







Please check with other faculty who are teaching at or near your level before you order
a textbook. We want to avoid unplanned duplication!
Please don’t use the same textbook for both R and L sections. Students are not required
to take classes all 4 nights a week, so dividing up 1 text book over 4 nights is logistically
difficult to say the least.
If you want to share a textbook with another teacher, it’s best to coordinate this with a
teacher who teaches on the same evenings as you. For example, if you teach 021L, you
might share a text with 022L. (Many of the integrated skills texts are large and would
work well for splitting on TTH eves.)
If you have questions as to whether a Focus on Writing text is better suited to 021 or
022, for example, feel free to contact the coordinator for input.
If you want to choose a book that is not on the list below, you must get a copy of the
text to the program coordinator so that it can be leveled and placed on the list before
you order it.
Please see the other hand-out for specific grammar points assigned to A and B sections.
Please see the original Integrated Skills textbook lists for grammar texts and additional
supplemental texts cleared for your level.
