Year 6 homework This term I am giving you a menu of ‘Crime Scene’ homework activities to link in with our CSI science and English topics (we will be carrying on with the Mayans in class too). Over the next 6 weeks, you must choose one option from each category each week. Remember: You will be learning lines for the performance too! Writing tasks must be presented clearly in a writing pen and must be at least 3 paragraphs. Always remember your ACARPPIE. Research tasks must be at least a page long and put into some of your OWN WORDS. Please do not copy and paste! Category 1: Writing Write a crime report based On a traditional tale (e.g Goldilocks and the 3 Bears) Crime trial: Basing your crime on a traditional tale, come up with 10 questions and answers between a lawyer and defendant. Category 2: Knowledge and understanding Research crime and punishment (e.g Tudor, Victorian) Research a famous detective from literature. Category 3: Art & design Design your own detective. Police sketches (read below for information). Category 4: Maths Murder mystery maths sheet Don’t forget about Mathletics! Suggestion on how to tackle some of the activities! Crime Report Use the template provided to write a crime report on a traditional tale. Think about: Date / time People involved Witnesses Details about the crime scene Crime Trial Like the crime report, base your trial on a traditional fairy tale so that you are aware of the background. Come up with 10 questions/ answers between a lawyer and defendant. No yes/ no answers so make sure you use OPEN QUESTIONING. You could draw a crime scene picture to go with it. Research tasks Children can use books or the internet (with support) to research these topics further. Remember not to simply copy and paste – use your own words and NEVER use words you don’t understand! I will be checking! Police sketches The police often rely on witness descriptions when looking for suspects. I have attached some descriptions of faces, so you will have to work as police sketch artists to produce a replica of the given description!
