Advisory Council Representative TitleParent I Parent Involvement Program School Parent Advisory Council Representative The PAC Representative is a parent/guardian at the school where their child is enrolled. The PAC represents all subgroups proportionate to the number of students served by Title I (racial, economically disadvantaged, limited English proficient, exceptional student education, and homeless, to the extent practicable); and contains a balanced representation of school-based. The Parent Advisory Council is or cannot be an employee of the school district. Building Level The PAC Representative is selected by the principal and serves as a mentor, and advocate to both the district and school advisory council. At a Parent Advisory Council Representative shall: • Serves on the school’s building leadership team. • Attends district parent advisory council meetings • Assists in developing district family day events • Attends parent leadership BootCamp and other trainings which includes a process for developing and implementing school-improvement projects addressing needs related to student achievementwhich gives parents knowledge about how school systems work • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing the parent involvement plan • Plans, develops, and implements school activities for Title I families that focus on the difference types of parent involvement: parenting, communication, learning-at-home, collaborating with community, volunteering and decision-making • Participates in the preparation of the Title I Parent Involvement budget, and review budget related concerns to have input on how funds are to be spent. • Advocates for positive change in the school. • Remain current with school, district, state, and national issues. • Works jointly with Title I Family and Community Program Coordinator, principal and parents Title I Parent Involvement Program District Parent Advisory Council Representative (PACR) District Level Purpose The Parent Advisory Council Representative to the Superintendent (PACS) is comprised of parent representatives from each school. They meet with the Superintendent and other district staff on a monthly basis during the school year. Members work together to: identify common needs and goals among the parents of students enrolled in Dayton Public Schools and facilitate strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their respective school’s parent organizations. provide the superintendent with feedback and insight from the parent’s perspective on school process, policies and initiatives to ensure that the needs of parents and their families are included as decisions are made in the district. to bring to the superintendent’s attention existing and emerging issues expressed by parents at the school they represent. serve as an advisory, not a decision-making body, that makes recommendations, encourages brainstorming and provides opportunities for parent involvement on committees and task forces. to facilitate communication between and among the parents and parent organizations from different district schools and serve as a forum for sharing innovations and best practices from around the district.
