Music Education Hubs Advisory Group Terms of reference, Meetings and Membership 1. Purpose To advise Arts Council England on the strategic development of music education hubs. To advise Arts Council England on the shaping of its operational processes & procedures for music education hubs, and the extent to which these processes and procedures are adding value to the delivery of quality music education. To provide Arts Council England with views about how it can work most effectively with the music education sector. 2. Membership The Advisory Group comprises: Oonagh Barry Chris Bastock Carolyn Baxendale Sue Beckett Graham Bland Peter Bolton Peter Chivers John Clemson Ian Colthart Andy Gleadhill Matthew Gunn Virginia Haworth-Galt Thom Meredith Graeme Smith Ian Thomas Head of Hounslow Music Service Director Love Music Trust Head of Bolton Music Service Head of Service Education Portsmouth Music Service/Director of Portsmouth Music Hub Head of Luton Music Service Chief Executive, Music Education in Kent Head of Music and Art Service Brighton and Hove Head of Birmingham Music Services North Tyneside Music Education Hub Manager and School Improvement Adviser Head of Bristol Arts and Music Service and Director of The Bristol Centre for Music and the Arts Head of Cambridge Music Services Chief Executive, The UK Association for Music Education – Music Mark Principal, Kirklees Music School Head of Croydon Music and Arts Music Education Manager Telford & Wrekin Music The meetings will be chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive of Arts Council England, and attended by the Director Children & Young People, Learning, and Director of Music. Other Arts Council staff may attend from time to time. 3. Meetings The group is likely to meet on a quarterly basis and, in the first instance, will last for one year only. More frequent meetings may be arranged with the agreement of the group. Members of the Advisory Group will be invited to a pre-arranged calendar of meetings. If Advisory Group members are unable to attend they will not send a substitute. From time to time, the group may consider information and proposals when they are at design stage and so may be asked to keep some of the information disclosed confidential. 4. Members’ Expenses 4.1.1. Members shall be entitled to reimbursement of expenses reasonably incurred in the course of their service as Advisory Group members, in accordance with Arts Council England’s policy on expenses for staff.
