T. Listen to the text “At the Library”
We like reading. There are a lot of books in our country. But we can’t buy all the
books which we like, that’s why we go to the library. Libraries are very important in
the life of people.
It is the library. You can go there if you want to take out a book and read it at
home or if you want to read the books at the library.
What is the library? It is a big, light room. There are many bookcases and
bookshelves with a lot of books on them.
You can see novels, poems, plays, books on history, geography, and arts at the
library. Adventure books are very popular. You can see a reading room on the right
with many tables and chairs where you can read books, newspapers, and magazines.
You can find millions of books by the greatest writers and poets well-known all over
the world.
Pupils go to the library to read books, to look through some new magazines and to
prepare for their reports. The librarian helps the pupils to find the books they need.
Many teachers go to the school library, too. Sometimes the teachers prepare for the
lessons at the school library.
I think it is difficult to live without libraries.
Addition 4.
P7: Yes. I want to tell you about the British Library. It is situated in GB in
London and was established in 1753.
The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom. The library is
a main research library, holding over 150 million items from many countries in many
languages: books, manuscripts, journals, newspapers, magazines, sound and music
recordings, videos, play-scripts, patents, databases, maps, stamps, prints, drawings.
The Library's collections include around 14 million books, among them are
manuscripts and historical items dating back as far as 2000 BC.
III. Summery.
T:What is the conclusion of your project?
P8. (Dmitro) Today, there are many different kinds of libraries in Ukraine and in
the world.
A large public library has a lot of sections. The three main sections are fiction,
non-fiction and reference. You can read a book in the reading hall or borrow it and
read it at home.
Libraries also have other facilities. In some libraries there are listening centers.
There you can borrow CDs and cassettes or listen to them there. There are also
photocopiers-machines which you can use to make a copy of some page or story. An
important section in every library is a catalogue. It's a system of cards which give you
information about books and where to find them in the library. The cards in the
catalogue are in alphabetical order by titles of books and by authors. Catalogues are
often in computers and then it takes you less time to look for books.
Librarians are always ready to help people to find a book on any subject if they
do not know the title of the book they want.
T:I’m pleased with your work at the lesson and now let’s make up an ode for the
library.
