New Version of Blackboard
Courses will migrate to a new version of Blackboard, called Learn 9.1, for the spring term. Both
instructors and students will need to adjust to this new version, but it should provide more
options for instruction and greater ease in navigation. We will provide links for training and
FAQ’s about the new system.
Textbooks for Spring Courses
Textbooks can be purchased from the MUGC bookstore (304/746-2501) or from

Registration for ITL 650 Library Practice
If you plan to register for the library practice course in the spring, contact Dr. Seymour at
Seymour@marshall.edu to receive information about the experience. Even if you don’t intend to
actually register for ITL 650 until later in December, let Dr. Seymour know you plan to enroll.
She will send you information about the comprehensive exam you will need to take to display
your general knowledge of school library media.
Grades
Sometimes have work, medical or family problems that cause you to miss assignments or stand
in the way of your completing requirements for a course you are registered for. If you are in that
situation, it is important that you communicate with the instructor, consider your options and
protect your academic record.
If you are unable to complete course requirements, you can request an Incomplete grade at the
end of the semester if you have completed at least 75% of assignment. You have up to one year
to submit missed assignments to change the Incomplete grade to an A, B, etc. If you have not
submitted identified assignments, after one year the Incomplete will be changed to an F. Each
course syllabus should have the date for course withdrawal to avoid a failing grade.
It is also important to consider requirements for certification. Course in which you earn a D or F
cannot be use for certification. You must earn a minimum gpa of 2.5 in program classes to
qualify for certification. You can go into MyMU and click on MILO to get a list of courses you
are enrolled in and of grades for courses you have already taken.
Application for Graduation
If you are completing the requirements for the master’s degree and intend to graduate in May but
have not yet applied for graduation, contact Dr. Seymour immediately.
