Tenure-track Faculty Position in Aquatic Microbiology
The Department of Biology at the University of Waterloo invites applications from
outstanding individuals for a Faculty position in the area of aquatic microbiology.
Applicants should possess disciplinary expertise ideally including one or more aspects of
microbial ecology, biogeochemistry, community or ecosystem dynamics, or water
distribution and treatment systems. This position is intended to support strategic
teaching and research objectives of the Department of Biology and the University of
Waterloo. The incumbent will have access to internal infrastructure, including an
aquatics facility, the Water Institute, and the Environmental Isotopes Laboratory.
Waterloo is situated close to field resources such as the Grand River watershed and the
Great Lakes.
Candidates are being sought at the Assistant Professor level (tenure-track); however,
exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be considered. The individual will
participate in an interdisciplinary environment of research, teaching, and scholarship in
the Department of Biology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the
undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as establish an independent, externally
funded research program.
The salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $74,478 to $93,736.
Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified
