Manager Water Resources Modelling Department of Land Resource Management Senior Professional 1 - Remuneration Package $113,983 - $127,170 (including salary $99,457 - $111,108) Water Assessment Section - Darwin, Katherine or Alice Springs NT (negotiable) The Water Assessment Section performs a diverse range of functions relating to the assessment,investigation, floodplain management and flood forecasting of surface and groundwater resources under the NT Water Act. We manage a work program involving multi-disciplinary project teams targeted at the investigation, development, management and environmental protection of the Northern Territory’s water resources. The Water Assessment Section requires a self motivated professional with a hydrogeological and modelling background to provide leadership and manage the Division’s water resource modelling activities. The suite of current models advise water resource assessment and planning for the sustainable utilisation of water resources in the Northern Territory with particular emphasis on the development of groundwater models and integrated water resource models for whole of catchment water management. The successful applicant will have: • a Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, an Applied Science, or similar relevant Tertiary qualification • high level of management skills including program planning, budgeting and output based performance • demonstrated extensive experience in the development of groundwater models in tropical and arid environments and demonstrated ability to manage complex modelling projects • extensive knowledge of hydrology, hydrogeology and catchment processes • demonstrated knowledge of groundwater resource assessment techniques and methodologies • knowledge of integrated catchment modelling and • capacity to communicate effectively with water resources staff and external stakeholders and have an ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures Benefits of working for the Northern Territory Public Service include: • Remuneration Package $113,983 - $127,170 (including salary $99,457 - $111,108) • Six weeks annual leave (plus 17.5% leave loading) • Potential for relocation assistance • Flexible working conditions Applications should address the Selection Criteria.
