Multicultural Programming Fund (MPF) Request
Purpose of Multicultural Programming Funding
The Multicultural Programming Fund (MPF)—administered by the Division of Student Development— assists students in the Seattle University
community in developing multicultural programs, events, and activities that seek to enhance the University’s commitment to diversity and equity.
The MPF does this by sponsoring/co-sponsoring campus-based initiatives that focus on creating a more integrated, seamless approach to the
student learning of multicultural issues using a social justice framework.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for MPF funding, you must be a Seattle University student, student group, or SU recognized club.
Funding Priority will be given to programs that fit the following:

seek collaboration across campus—with student organizations, campus centers, and academic departments—as well as with off-campus
community-based groups

new, innovative and imaginative initiatives that effectively engage students in the multicultural learning process

culturally-based programs that demonstrate a commitment to social justice

integrate a focus on diversity, equity, and social justice

present sustainable funding strategies
Sample Programs include:

cultural preservation events (including celebration and performance)

art and social change programs (including workshops, art-making & exhibits, performance)

guest speakers and panel discussions

awareness or consciousness-raising events
Please note the following:

MPF does not fund programming where the primary focus is off campus. The fund focuses on programs that are campus-based. (If you
are unsure of whether your event meets this criteria, please feel free to contact Juanita Jasso at jassoj@seattleu.edu)

One request per event must be completed. However, an organization may apply for funding for multiple events, but each request must
be filed on separate request forms.

We value student-driven programming, so if collaborating with departments, please show how the students are involved in
programmatic decision making.
Funding Requirements

Please download and fill out the MPF Application. Once filled out, submit request to Juanita Jasso via e-mail: jassoj@seattleu.edu.

The MPF is to be used as part of a club’s comprehensive plan for program funding. Preference will also be given to groups that have well
thought out funding plans and/or are seeking funding from SGSU Appropriations, GSC, or other sources.

The maximum amount of funding that may be approved from MPF is $400 per event.

Requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance of an event. Advance requests are encouraged.

The MPF Committee will meet on Fridays, to consider all applications that were received by Tuesday at 12:00pm. You will hear from MPF
Committee within 1 week of submitting your request. Notification of the Committee’s decision will be via e-mail, sent to the club’s
contact person.

A member of the group(s) requesting funding may be asked to respond to follow up questions via email or be invited to meet briefly with
the committee to answer any questions regarding the proposal.

If funds are granted, they will be available immediately. The Club Treasurer must sign the transfer form at the Office of Multicultural
Affairs at which point the funds will be transferred to your club account.

MPF recipients must complete and return an MPF evaluation form no later than two weeks after the program is held. It will be noted for
future requests if clubs turned in evaluations on time.
General Notes on Funds & Funding:

Funds will be distributed on a rolling basis.
