Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Recertification & Provider Course

Introduction
The ACLS Provider course is an intensive, two day program that utilizes a series of skill development
and evaluation stations designed to reinforce and focus the pre-existing knowledge of the participants on
the skills and teamwork essential for the effective management of life threatening emergencies.
Participants
This course is open to RNs, RRTs, physicians, residents and paramedics.
Prerequisites
On registration, please submit a copy of your current CPR card. (HCP CPR(C))
This course does not teach CPR skills, interpretation of rhythm strips or basic ACLS pharmacology.
Before taking the course Students must be proficient in the following:
 Performing CPR skills using the 2010 AHA guidelines
 Reading & interpreting basic ECG rhythm strips
 Knowledge of basic ACLS pharmacology
 Practical application of ACLS rhythms and drugs
Students must complete the self-assessment pre-test which will be included in the registration package
sent to registrants by e-mail prior to the course and bring their completed test to the course as an
expectation of Sault Area Hospital.

Refund Policy
Refunds will be provided when a request is received at least two weeks prior to the start of the course.
The total fee is forfeited if less than two weeks’ notice is given. Refunds may take up to thirty days to
process.
Cancellation
All registration fees will be returned if SAH is required to cancel the class for any reason.
Lunch
Snacks and hot and cold beverages will be provided on Sunday morning. Lunch can be purchased in the
Sault College Cafeteria which is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 :30 a.m. to 7 :00 p.m.
