GC Cheer announces tryouts for the 2014-2015 Season this Saturday, May 3rd at the Centennial Center’s West Court. Check-in will begin at 9:00 AM and tryouts will begin at 9:30 AM. All athletes will need the following for check-in: Proof of acceptance to Georgia College (incoming freshmen/transfer students) A cleared physical that is less than 6 months old Athletes will be evaluated on the following skill areas: Stunts (Coed and all-girl style) o Females: Top girls: flexibility/body positions, ability to take instruction Bases: strength, technique, ability to take instruction Backspots: strength, technique, ability to take instruction o Males: Strength, technique, ability to take instruction Tumbling o Running & standing Spotters will not be available; you will be expected to perform the highest level skill(s) you are capable of executing on your own Game day o Females: You will learn multiple chants and will be evaluated on: Motions Vocal projection Pom use Collegiate image o Males: You will learn proper megaphone technique and will be evaluated on Meg use Vocal projection Collegiate image Pyramids o All athletes will get an introduction to collegiate pyramid structures and will be evaluated on their ability to take instruction Attire: Females: o Solid colored sports bra (black, navy, gray, royal blue, hunter green, or white) o Solid colored spandex/hot pants (black, navy, gray, royal blue, or hunter green) o Solid colored bow (no sparkles/glitter/patterns; preferable white) o o Hair: all hair up (when length allows) Cheer shoes and white socks NO LOUD COLORS OR PATTERNS Males: o Solid colored shirt with sleeves (black, navy, gray, royal blue, hunter green, or white) o Solid colored gym shorts (black, navy, gray, royal blue, or hunter green) o Cheer/tennis shoes and white or black socks NO LOUD COLORS OR PATTERNS If you will have family/friends viewing at tryouts, please be aware that there is no seating available. They will need to bring their own chair or be prepared to sit against the wall. Space for spectators is very limited, so please do not bring an “entourage.” We should be done with tryouts by 1:00 PM.
