KORE Academy Director Job Description Reports to: KORE Academy board; the director of the school is the sole employee of the board of directors of KORE Academy. Employment status: Full-time; start date: June 1, 2016 Summary: Reporting to the KORE Academy board, this position offers the opportunity for an experienced academic leader with vision and energy to advance our school to the next level. KORE Academy is seeking a director with a combination of both management skills and experience teaching students with learning differences and disabilities. Salary: TBD based on experience. Qualifications: An advanced degree in education and/or education administration and leadership, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of leadership and teaching experience. Prior successful experience managing and motivating faculty and staff with a population of specialized learners to include students with ASD, attention issues, language based learning issues, dysgraphia, and processing disorders. Experience using instructional and educational technology. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in confidential matters. Enthusiastic belief in our mission: a team player Responsibilities include: The KORE Academy director is a member, ex officio, of the KORE Academy board of directors and all of its standing committees. H/she is the representative of the board in its relations with the teachers, staff, and students. The school director will select and hire qualified individuals to serve as teachers and in some cases, other administrative roles. The school director will have direct supervision of the teachers and staff and shall coordinate the activities of the entire organization. The school director will hold regular meetings of the teachers and staff and see that general policies of the board are understood and followed. The school director will be responsible for facilitating curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. The school director will teach at least one class per semester. Other duties include: Articulation of the vision for the school and its future. Advocate for and embody the mission of the school. Monitor and address all issues of school climate and culture. Provide the board with ideas and possibilities as the board creates a yearly strategic plan. Working with the board treasurer and others to prepare program budgets, monitor expenditures, and maintain appropriate financial records. Handle admissions including: recruitment of students, information sessions, applicant testing and interviews, and acceptance/denial decisions. Work with the board and teachers to carry out school policies; review those policies and make recommendations for changes; attend meetings, prepare reports and keep the board informed regarding school operations. Supervise all aspects of the school including: before and after school programs (if offered); curriculum, grading, testing and reporting to parents. Prepare for and conduct periodic program evaluations; submit reports to external agencies as required; establish disciplinary policies and standards of conduct in conjunction with the board.
