Dear New Dover Residents,
The Dover Recycling Committee (DRC) would like to welcome you and introduce you to
recycling and trash disposal in Dover. These guidelines are to help you maximize your tax
dollars by reducing the amount of trash you dispose of. You can access additional

Transfer Station
There is no town sponsored trash pick up in Dover. All residents have access to the
Transfer Station for their trash and separated recyclables, provided they have obtained
a town dump sticker for their car.
Dover’s Transfer Station is located on Powissett Street.
Hours: Wed, Sat., & Sun. 8:00am-3:45pm
Phone: (781) 329 -7733 (phones are often unattended as attendants are away from
their desks and on the grounds of the transfer station).

Dump Stickers & Recycle Bins
Car dumps stickers are free and available at the Transfer Station or through the
Highway Department (HD). Please call the HD to purchase the containers. The HD is
located at the Town Garage on Dedham Street in the center of town.

Food Waste Pick-up
The town of Dover provides Food Waste pick up free of charge to all residents. Please
contact the Board of Health at (508) 785-0032 ext.232 to arrange a pick-up. This
service benefits:
 The residents, as overuse of kitchen disposals can adversely affect the
functioning of septic systems. For information regarding the care and
maintenance of the septic system, call Board of Health.
 The town, as Dover pays $74.01/ ton to dispose of residential waste and food
waste is one of the heaviest components.
 A local farmer who uses the food waste for pig feed.

Deposit Trailer
DRC encourages you to bring your redeemable items to the deposit trailer at the
Transfer Station. Every month a local non-profit organization manages the trailer and
benefits from the proceeds. Many organizations raised up to $1000. Please contact

Separating Recyclables:
Cardboard & Boxboard (flattened corrugated cardboard, cereal boxes, cracker
boxes, egg cartons, pizza boxes--cheese and food removed, brown paper
bags)
Mixed Paper (newspaper, magazines, glossy paper, envelopes, office paper,
phone books and paperback books). No brown paper bags.
Plastic #1-7 (flatten the plastics)
Glass (separate Clear from Color)
Metal (aluminum, tin, steel cans & lids, aluminum foil, pie plates)
Special Collections at the Transfer Station
Oversized Scrap Metal (includes bicycles, old appliances, empty paint cans,
clothes hangers, window screens, metal tools, metal fencing, other)
Auto Items (motor oil, auto batteries)
Electronics items (computer items, TV, microwave ovens etc.)
Mercury items (fluorescent bulbs, thermostats, thermometers, button-cell
batteries, blood pressure units, barometers)
Goodwill Donations (gently used clothing items in plastic bags)

Mary’s Swap Shop
Leave usable items for others and take what you like. Include books, toys,
furniture, exercise equipment, household items.
Yard Waste
Leaves, plants, grass clippings (no plastic bags and pots please).
DRC is dedicated to reduce trash and increase recycling in our town. Please let

to keep Dover green.
