Fall 2013 in the Children’s Department

We are looking forward to another busy fall here at NMPL. By the time you get this
newsletter, story times for the September/October session will have begun, but if you see
a program on the schedule that you would like your child to participate in, call the library
to see if there are still spaces left in the group of your choice. You need to register for all
story time programs, but not for the Preschool Film programs.
Story Times
New Milford Public Library
(NOTE: there are no programs on Monday, October 14, Columbus Day)
LITTLE LAP-SITTERS (for 12 – 24 month olds and their parents or caretakers) featuring
books, music, rhymes and finger-plays. Children must have turned the proper age for this
program by Dec. 31, 2013.
Monday: 10:00 - 10:25 AM or 10:30 - 10:55 AM
Groups meets Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30, and Oct. 7.
PARENT AND CHILD (for 2 year olds and their parents or caretakers) featuring books and
finger-plays, toys and fun. Children must have turned the proper age for this program by Dec.
31, 2013.
Monday or Fridays at 10:00 - 10:45 AM or 11:00 - 11:45 AM
Monday group meets on Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30, and Oct. 7.
Friday group meets on Sept. 13, 20, 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18.
STORY TIME (for 3 & 4 year olds). Stories and finger-plays, etc. geared to preschoolers.
Children must have turned the proper age for this program by Dec. 31, 2013.
Monday: 11:00 - 11:30 AM. Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30, and Oct. 7.
CLUE CREW (A science based story time for children in K and 1st Grades).
Monday: 4:00 - 4:45 PM. Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30, and Oct. 7.
TUESDAY AT TWO and THURSDAY STORY TIME (for 4, 5 & 6 year olds). Stories,
finger-plays, crafts and music geared to 4, 5 and 6 year olds. Children must have turned the
proper age for this program by Dec. 31, 2013.
Tuesday 2:00 - 2:45 PM; Thursday: 10:00 - 10:45 AM
Tuesday groups meet Sept. 10, 17, 24, Oct. 1, 8, & 15.
Thursday group meets Sept. 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3, 10 & 17.

THURSDAY FUNTIME (for children in grades 2 - 5). Books, movies, songs, crafts and fun.
Thursday: 4:00 - 4:45 PM.
Group meets Sept. 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3, 10 & 17.
PRESCHOOL FILMS NO REGISTRATION. Parents (or caretakers) are to attend with their
children. Films are shown on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM and Thursdays at 11:00 AM.
Sept. 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, Oct. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 & 17.
Special Fall Programs
Please note that registration is required for all the following programs. To register, please
stop by the Children’s Dept. or phone 860-355-1191, ext. 204. Hope to see you here!
On Thursday, Oct. 31 we will offer “Halloween Fun!” from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. This
program will offer stories, films and crafts for kids aged 3 up (preschoolers and home
schooled children). The children can wear costumes if they would enjoy doing so, but
remember we will be doing crafts, so their costumes might get messy!
In November, our special Saturday Story time will be “Scaredy Squirrel Story Time” on
Nov. 2 at 11:00 AM. This program is for kids 4 and older and will feature stories, films,
fun and crafts.
Our 4th annual “Bingo For Books!” family program will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 at
2:00 PM. This is a program geared for families with children who are old enough to
enjoy playing Bingo.
