November 10 Faculty Collaboratives State Liaison Conference Call November 16 LEAP Texas Fellows Conference Call to solidify Meeting plans for the LEAP Texas SACSCOC Affiliate Meeting in Houston, Texas on December 7. November 20 Loraine Phillips visited with George Siemens. He has decided to stop work on the Faculty Collaboratives initiative. He wants the project to move forward. November 30 Faculty Collaboratives State Liaison Conference Call Early December Terry DiPaolo of the LeCroy Center of the Dallas County Community College District agreed to serve as the Hub Director. (He was a Faculty Fellow.) December 6 The Faculty Fellows, Assessment Fellows, Hub Director, and State Liaison met in Houston at the Hilton Americas across from the Convention Center to further discuss our plans now moving forward. Very productive. December 7 LEAP Texas held a SACSCOC Affiliate Group Meeting in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. SACSCOC covered our meeting room costs. We had an excellent agenda and heard from the following: The State Liaison, Loraine Phillips Assessment Fellows, Chris Duke and Larry King Faculty Fellows, Doyle Carter and Jennifer Edwards GEMS Pathways Project (UNT, Collin College, DCCCD), Dani Day and Karen Mongo THECB and the MSC, Rex Peebles Handouts are posted! December 10 We discovered that the LEAP Texas Faculty Fellows’ DQP Charrette Application: “A Texas Perspective on the Freshman Seminar Course,” was accepted by the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA). Everyone is excited about this! The event will take place on February 20, 2016 in New Orleans. December 14 A few of us participated in the VALUE/MSC Twitter Chat, especially Chris Duke and Loraine Phillips. It was a chance to interact with others on this topic! On-going Our new Hub Director, Terry DiPaolo, continues to work with Tiffany Hearne and State Liaison Loraine Phillips on the Faculty Collaboratives Web presence. So far, we have this: http://leaptx.org/faculty/. More work is needed. Please describe any current challenges you are facing in meeting your FC Project goals: We are now doing a better job identifying the deliverables for the Faculty Fellows. We will continue to do this over the next month or so, especially now that our Hub Director is in place and can help. In addition, we are interested in having a one-to-one match of the Faculty Fellows and the Proficiency Initiatives so that we can be more specific about the work of the fellows, as well as our Web and content development.
