The girls tennis team lost to Iowa City West 6-3 and lost to Iowa City City
High 8-1 on Saturday. They play at Kennedy on Tuesday against Linn Mar.
Saturday, April 20th was Special Olympics Track and Field at Coe
College. The following students placed in their divisions:
Trystan Lehr-3rd place in the softball throw
Aaron Steinke-3rd place in the softball throw
Catherine Swiderski-3rd place in the softball throw and 2nd place in the 50M
Dash
Ted Then- 1st place in the 50M Dash
Ted Then has qualified for state Special Olympics in May.
Congratulations to math team members David Zhang, George Qi and
Michael Kegel for earning the opportunity to compete in the past weekend’s
State Math completion. Special congratulations to Michael Kegel for placing
third in the target round competition.
The Kennedy men’s tennis team split dual meets this weekend, losing to
Iowa City West 6-0, and then rebounding in the afternoon against Iowa City
City High, defeating the Little Hawks, 8-1. Winners in singles were Quinn
Jamrock, Jimmy Cunningham, Nate Kenworthy, Brett Blomberg, and
Michael Abramson. All participants in doubles, including Corey Duncan,
were winners.
ALL men’s tennis players should pick up a weekly schedule from the folder
outside Coach Bova’s room.
#2 Kennedy and #12 Linn-Mar made up their previously postponed match
today at Kingston Stadium. Kennedy won 1-0 (8-7 in PKs). The Cougars are
now 7-0-0 overall, 4-0 in the MVC.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! Buy her something at the ceramic
sale this Tuesday and Wednesday during all lunches in the foyer. Take
advantage of some great bargains and some real beauties!
There will be no PBW 7th hour today, April 22. We will meet on Wednesday
as regularly scheduled.
SENIORS: If you are planning to have dinner at Elmcrest for Prom, please
purchase your tickets for that as soon as possible to reserve your place.
Tickets will be sold until Wednesday, April 24 at the foyer from 7 to 8 am
and from 11 am to 1 pm. Please have your order forms ready – complete
one form per person.
Remember that if your guest is not a Kennedy student, you need to
purchase the ticket and register that guest by Wednesday, the 24th at 1 pm.
IMPORTANT Post-Prom NOTE: You may buy Post-Prom tickets at the
door at Rockwell Rec Center as long as you are a Kennedy student and
have a Kennedy ID.
Any non-Kennedy guest who wishes to attend Post-Prom, as well as
the other events that night, needs to be signed up by a Kennedy
student at the prom table BY April 24 at 1 pm.
Junior students interested in being considered for The National Council on
Youth Leadership (NCYL), please pick up an application in the counseling
office and return it by April 23rd. The purpose of the program is to recognize
and honor high school students who are leaders and are involved in giving
back to their school and community. If you think you have what it takes,
please consider applying.
The Sunrise Rotary Club scholarship applications are due by April 24th. You

may mail them in or you can drop them off with Mr. Benedict in room 164
and he will make sure they are in on time.
Anyone interested in trying out for fall and winter cheerleading or being the
cougar mascot pick up a flyer from the Activities office window. Clinics will
be held April 30 and May 1, 2 and 3rd.
Class officer elections will be held the week of May 13. Paper work will be
available April 29 and due May 3. Speeches will be taped May 6 - 8 and the
election will be held May 14.
Consider becoming an elected leader for your class!
Minority students interested in a week-long summer seminar at Luther
College, please see Ms. Collins in the counseling office. This is specifically
for students interested in Business and the Sciences. It’s a great
opportunity to get some experience in a college classroom, have some fun
and get away from your parents! Transportation to and from Luther will be
provided.
