Purpose
To assist with the planning, implementation and continual improvement of the programme for the
New Zealand Football U-17 Men’s National Team.
Key Accountabilities Specific to the Role

Act as directed by the Head Coach on all technical aspects.

Consult with the Goalkeeper Coach on the technical programme for the goalkeepers and
defensive unit.

Supervise the preparation for all match kit and equipment necessary for the technical
programme.

Take an active role in the identification and monitoring of players including taking
responsibility for players playing overseas to ensure that when called into the National Team
environment they are fit and can actively participate.

Undertake if directed Pre match warm up and technical preparation and post match warm
down.

Work through and contribute to any strategic planning process.

Determine and co-ordinate the nature and extent of information given to players relating to
technical matters prior, during and following each game or session.

Co-ordinate all squad presentations.

Take an active role in the identification and monitoring of players including taking
responsibility for players playing overseas to ensure that when called into the National Team
environment they are fit and can actively participate.

Co-ordinate and conduct feedback to clubs at the conclusion of each annual squad cycle.

All tasks negotiable between Head Coach and Assistant Coach. Other details may be added
as required.

Experience

Minimum NZ Football Senior Level 3 Coaching License or equivalent

Demonstrated experience in coaching a high performing football team

Understanding and experience of international coaching and player development trends

Understanding of the role of sports science in team performance

Knowledge, understanding and experience in the use of technical analysis in improving team
performance

Knowledge and experience of working within the NZ Football or Federation talent programs
