My Story:
People are born with destiny. They have it the moment they enter this world. But it can’t always be that clear
what your destiny is. But when it is your mind is at peace and the whole world to you feels like harmony.
CHAPTER 1:
The wind howled like a demon around the house. It sped round as
quick as lightning getting through every crack. A girl walked to her
window and watched the darkness. She turned and sat on her bed.
Myths were part of her culture and many people had said long ago in
their land there was a group of dragon riders. Charia was always
drawing of what they may have looked like before the King came and
killed them all. She kept the drawings secret though. If anyone knew
about them she would be in deep trouble as no one was allowed to even talk about the groups. She sketched a
dragon first. Its long tail curving around its mistress, the piercing eye watching your every move, and the spikes
elegantly in position. She sighed. If only all this could be real. A rustle came from her parents room signalling her
father was up and about to walk past to make breakfast. She shoved her pad under her bed, blew her candle out
and pulled the covers of her. She knew she had to get at least some sleep.
The day brought no difference than the day before. Taking some corn down in the trap to sell at the market and
earning around 12 gerdons, buying some groceries, and looking at the cheap toys in the shop at the end of the
street. She loved the wooden rearing dragon with a girl riding it and wished she could get it. But it was way too
expensive for her to by. Her parents on the other hand stayed at the farm harvesting the corn and teaching
Serafine to walk. Serafine was nine months old and could already talk. Some words she couldn’t pronounce
properly but everyone knew what she was saying.
“Charia! Dear. How was the trip? Did you get all the groceries we needed? Did you also sell all the corn? How
much money did we earn...” the questions just kept on going when Charia returned to her home. She sighed and
walked outside, a warm spring breeze blew against her face. She walked and led the two horses and pony out into
the field. They trotted off and grazed on the lush spring grass. Charia laid in the grass her legs at the side and her
arms above her head. It was peaceful outside. It was like a second home for her. She loved the outside and was
almost all the time outside.
Later that evening she rode to the forest to give the family pony a little ride. It was almost dark but Charia could
see where she was going and knew the forest like the back of her hand. She knew the great lake and its river that
flowed straight through the village, the everlasting meadow, and lots of good spots none knew of.
A fox trotted by and stared at her for a bit and then went on its way. An owl swooped by , a deer walked past
spotted her and ran, a hedgehog came out from under a tree and then scampered in again at the sight of them.
She didn’t understand. The animals weren’t like this normally. They would just hid e for a bit and then come
back out again but they were very skittish tonight. Suddenly a groan came from a band of trees not far from
where her pony was standing, the mare shied and Mollie tied the mare up to a branch and explored. She could
not believe her eyes.
CHAPTER 2:
Its dead body lay in front of her. An arrow pierced its leg and it had three scratches and
a gaping wound on its wing. It shiny scales glimmering in the moonlight. Charia
walked over to it. The dragon was laying on something and she intended to find out.
She climbed over its limp legs and walked over to were some burnt grass lay. There lay
five eggs. She felt them all but only one was warm. She picked up one of eggs. She put
it to the moon and saw the body inside squirming. She knew from that moment that
whatever was in the big egg was alive. She walked turned in the direction she had come
from and went to the pony. Suddenly the egg started shaking, something scratched her
hand and she dropped the egg. A crack formed around the top and all of a sudden a
dragon hatchling came and poked its head out into the big wide world. She placed the
hatchling that was still in the egg, inside her rucksack and mounted. She cantered home as fast as she could, not
to know she was being followed.
She cantered to the barn were her father was mucking out the stalls. Who looked astonished to see that she so
early. She untacked the mare as quickly as she could, put her in her stall and ran inside to her room. Then
suddenly her mother called and said she had visitors. She didn’t have any friends so why did she have visitors?
She walked to the door were her mother was standing. She looked at her mother, smiled and opened the door.
There a boy and girl who looked like twins stood.
“Hello” said the boy “We wish not alarm you but could we talk somewhere a little more private?”
Charia nodded curtly and walked out the door. She led them to their barn were they could talk without being
heard.
“We have seen a dragon from our land… dead in your lands forest. This was one of our prime females. She was
supposed to lay five eggs but we only found four. We are in search for the egg and its bearer as, the one who
picked up the egg… is a dragon rider” said the girl
Suddenly a scream came from the house. Charia turned her brown hair gliding through the air as she ran to the
house.
She found her mum unconscious on the floor, the wet on the floor, broken shell. Charia looked at were the egg
had been. It was gone. She looked around and she was shocked to find some kind of wet lizard under her bed.
The twins came to her door and saw all of what Charia saw.
“Where is the hatchling it could be anywhere now! We need to find it… Charia, come with us. Your nicest
person we have met on your land please” said the girl “Please!”
Charia braced herself and looked up at the twins.
“I think I found the hatchling…I was the one who took the egg. I have heard of the lost ‘Group Of Three’ and
have always been desperate to see a mythical creature” she said pulling out the drawings she had done of the
groups and the dragon hatchling along with it.
“Come with us Charia. You will be trained properly and you will become a fine dragon rider” said the boy as he
turned to walk out of Charia’s Room.
She followed the twins out to the barn with the dragon hatchling and she smiled at
what she saw. In their barn were a fully grown grey unicorn stallion and a
hippogriff waiting for their mistress and master.
“Excuse me, I don’t know your names” Charia called as she shut the door.
The twins looked around “Oh, I am sorry I am Lucy and this is my twin brother
Rob. We are from the land over the forest and I am a unicorn rider and he is a
hippogriff rider” the girl whispered “I am sorry we have to whisper like this but if
Rob and I would be fund here we would lose our head or be gartered and all that horrid stuff. Please mount
Sauren my stallion, you and I will ride him to our village”
Charia looked behind; she would be leaving her mother, father and little sister unawares of her running away
with some people her age who they didn’t know. She sighed.
“I will ride bellow you two. I will take the family’s mare Elia. I know I won’t be a quick as you but I can at least
follow you and I can jump very well so I can jump the wall…”
“You know of the wall!” exclaimed Rob
“Yes it has always been part of the ‘Group Of Three’ stories I was told when I was little. The battle between the
King was over and most were dead but the ones who survived fled to the forest of turmando were they could be
safe” Charia said excitedly “I always believed that it was true and now I know it is! I would be honoured to come
with you”
Charia ran over to the mare and stroked her. She put on the saddle and the bridle with the fringes on to the
sleepy grey mare. The cart horse in the other stall looked at Charia confused to see what was going on. She
stroked the horses head, the gelding whickered to her softly she smiled and carried on with readying the mare.
When the mare was finally ready she mounted. The mare was a lot different to the little pony in the corner of the
barn snoozing. She was further off the ground and it was scary. The mare slowly walked on and the stride was so
long it was so hard to get used to.
“Hey, are you ok Charia” asked Lucy who was already waiting for her outside.
“Yeah just getting my balance this mare has a different stride to old Peggy in the corner there…ok I think I’m
ready. Tally Ho!” said Charia
CHAPTER 3:
The wall loomed ahead. Charia couldn’t believe that she was actually going to be jumping the wall; the wall that
the ‘Group Of Three’ crossed for safety. It came quickly like a panther hunting its pre and then jumping at the
prey taking it by alarm. The mares ears pricked up and her stride quickened.
“Steady girl” Charia said to a whisper
The mare hesitated at the wall but jumped it. Suddenly bows were pointing at her from every direction at her.
She quickly looked around for help, then to her relief Lucy landed in front of her and spoke to them. The people
looked at her and she urged the mare on and they broke into a trot.
The village was strange, but it did resemble old houses apart from they
were smaller. People out on the streets were hurrying to their houses,
some were pulling daggers from their pockets, and others were just
staring. Rain started to fall and the late October moon had appeared.
Before Charia knew where she was, she was standing in front of a huge
house. There stood a woman with golden hair and amber eyes.
“What is this son, daughter? I do not wish to be woken at this time of late
moon at such hour!” said the lady
“Mama, this is the girl who took the dragon egg” Lucy whimpered not
looking her mother in the eye
“Ah yes I have visited her man times in her dreams. Yes, she is a strong
believer, but why did she take the dragon egg daughter? This dragon was my
dragon and I need all the eggs as they are her children” the lady said
watching Charia
“Mother…she took the dragon egg because she wanted to be one of us. She
loves our stories and has grown up with them like we have” said Rob butting
The lady came out of the shadows of the porch she was standing under; her
long hair went all the way down to her knees.
“I am Tira, lost daughter of the King. You are very brave coming here” she said looking Charia straight in the eye
“I wish for the dragon egg no more. Please I don’t wish to take it with force”
“I don’t have the egg anymore Tira. The dragon egg hatched in my room. Apparently to Lucy it’s a girl…” started
Charia
“You need say no more. What is your name girl?” asked Tira now looking very polite
“Charia” whispered Charia
“Speak up dear I can’t here you if you whisper looking at the ground” Tira said
“Charia, my name is Charia. My parents are farmers and we live near the turmamdo forest” Charia said as clearly
as possible
“That’s better dear. You are now a dragon rider. You must only visit your family when it is a great need. You
have run away from them from what they think. If you wish to travel to town use your mare; the dragons are not
allowed to be seen or it could blow are cover… I am very shocked to hear that my son and daughter made it
without their hippogriff and unicorn being sighted. It was very dangerous on all of our behalf” Tira said smiling
at her new dragon rider
After being dismissed from the meeting Charia walked to be were her backpack was, there laid the hatchling. It
gurgled at her, she smiled it had a bit of ugliness to it but somehow it was cute. She picked it up; suddenly she
saw her mother and father. She watched quietly, her little sister came totting over to her. She put her fingers to
her lips but her cover was broken.
“It’s all right Charia, you don’t have to hide. We are glad you have come here” said her mother “We were
banished from here long ago. This is where your father and I grew up and lived at one point, before our dragons
got killed by a man named Jarsuno. But now you have a dragon we live here now”
She smiled; at least she would now be with her family.
They walked over to an empty cottage near Tira’s house. Suddenly a girl rushed past them with a dagger in her
hand. Charia looked at her and the girl stopped her blonde hair twirling as she looked around another girl
hurried to catch up with the first. Then the two girls turned around. “
“You haven’t seen a boy with quite an ugly face lurking anywhere have you?” asked the blonde girl asked
“N…..Yes! Yes I have he was chatting with a boy near Tira’s house” said Charia looking puzzled at the girls
“Thanks!” said the other girl before she was interrupted by the other
“I am going to kill him he is sooooo in trouble with his lovey dovey or whatever he called me” said the blonde
girl whizzing off towards were Charia had said.
“Excuse me, but I don’t know your names. I am Charia we have just joined your clan. My mother and father
were from this clan so hopefully we shall fit straight in” smiled Charia looking at the girls
There was an awkward pause before the girl with blonde hair spoke “I am Haritta, and that is my friend Emira.
She could eat for the world if we didn’t have to do more things than eat and sleep”. Emira smiled showing a piece
of apple wedged in her mouth that she was eating.
“Can I help?” asked Charia quickly
“Yeah you would be lots of he-ee-lllpp…. Are you an archer?” said Haritta “It would great if we could stun him
with one of your arrows!”
“Yes I am an archer. Are we gonna find this guy or not?” said Charia walking out of the door.
They ran to were the boy was. Before the boy could say anything Haritta was already running at him. But it was
too late to stop she ran straight in front of him and punched him in the face. He crumbled to the floor
unconscious.
“Wow! Good punch” echoed Charia and Emira at the same time. They smiled together.
After they had had shown each other their skills, Charia went and grabbed some
