Possibly, there will be slight reduction in day and night temperature with low relative humidity, moderate winds and no rains in coming days. Save water for future use and unnecessarily do not irrigate the crops without any requirement. Start pruning operation in Ber and it should be completed by end of May. It is most essential operation in Ber as flowering and fruiting takes place only on the new growth/branches. It is right time for picking of cucurbits. Changes in colour of fruit, drying of stalk near fruit, thumping sound etc are important symptoms of ripening of fruits. Do not pick up fruits just after (12-24 hours) after irrigation. Avoid plucking of unripe fruits. After harvesting and threshing, dry the produce in open sunshine till the moisture content of grain reduce up to 10 % at threshing floor and store them in properly cleaned and dried gunny bags or drums. Clean and dry the store house properly and check the entry of rats and insects by sealing pore with cement or dung before storing the produce. Spray Malathion @ 0.5 % to disinfect the storehouse. Place the E.D.B. (Ethyl di bromide) ampule@ 3 ml per quintal of grain 5-6 inch inside the begs and break the ampules with fork. Seal the doors and windows of store house. Do not open doors of store house till 7 days of use of EDB ampules. Do not use EDB ampules in oilseeds. Aluminium phosphide (Celphos) can be used in all kinds of grains @ 1-2 tablets per ton grains. Take care of avoiding bat from the reach of small children and pet animals.
