It is a student-centered institution committed to the highest integrity and to the development of an educational culture that supports creativity, encourages professional development, and promotes excellence in all areas. PURPOSE The goals of the College District shall be to: 1. Provide technical/vocational programs leading to associate degrees or certificates; 2. Provide postsecondary freshman and sophomore courses in arts and sciences that transfer to senior postsecondary institutions and that lead to associate degrees; 3. Support local and statewide needs for occupational upgrading and workforce development through adult literacy, education, and retraining programs; 4. Provide access to postsecondary education with an open admissions policy that includes developmental education programs; 5. Enhance the learning environment by providing support services to meet the requirements of educational programs, faculty, and students; 6. Maintain a campus conducive to learning; that is environmentally and functionally safe, accessible, attractive, and wellequipped; 7. Provide counseling, educational advising, job placement and guidance programs to assist students in achieving their educational, personal, and career goals. Diversity AD (LOCAL) 10. Communication The College District shall publish its purpose, role, and mission statement in its official publication for students, generally the College District catalog. STATEMENT OF ETHICS AND INTEGRITY The College District shall apply the highest ethical standards to all members of the College District community including the Board, administration, staff, and faculty in achieving its mission and in managing its resources efficiently and effectively to reach its goals and objectives. The College District seeks to treat each person of the College District community as a unique individual and provide a positive, encouraging, and success-oriented environment. The College District policies and practices that protect the rights and development of each individual in the College District community shall be enforced. Protection from unlawful discrimination, including conduct that constitutes sexual harassment, and freedom to develop as a student and/or College District employee shall be promoted. The College District accepts its responsibilities to its students, to its employees, and to the members of the community: the College District is committed to meet these responsibilities with balance, fairness, accountability, and ethical integrity. In order to express more adequately the affirmation of our professional responsibilities, we the Board, administration, staff and faculty members of the College District do adopt, and hold ourselves and each other subject to, the following standards of ethical behavior: 1. We shall participate in the governance of the College District by accepting a fair share of committee and institutional responsibilities. 12. We shall support the right of all to academic freedom and due process. 13. We shall not support the continuation in higher education of an individual known to be persistently unethical or professionally incompetent. 14. We shall accept the rights and responsibilities of citizenship while avoiding use of the privileges of public position for private or partisan advantage.
