Maritime Systems Architect Job Reference: LM People Job Code/Title: Location: Programme / Functional Group: MST MST11153 E1465I / Maritime Systems Architect Havant MST IS - Multiple Description of Business Environment: Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems has an increasing number of programmes and opportunities associated with design and integration of Integrated Maritime systems and subsystems for the UK Armed Forces and potential overseas customers. This position is for a Maritime Systems Architect to contribute to developing and growing this line of business, including system engineering activities in support of maritime opportunity identification activities, operational and design studies, bid support and programme performance (design, development, production, delivery and follow-on support and enhancements). Specific Job Description: The Systems Architect will be responsible for the operational and system analysis and design of system solutions for maritime opportunities and programmes. This will include: Requirements assessment and management, design of system and support systems infrastructure, technical impact assessment, design baseline synthesis and control. Support to Marketing and Business Development staff in development and pursuit of new opportunities, including preliminary solution definition and costing. Planning and control of own work and of any assigned engineering team. Conduct of operational analysis and performance of Concept and Assessment Phase design studies on behalf of internal/external customers. Conduct of internal and customer-funded research and development studies. Preparation of Systems Architecture and Technology Roadmaps. Assessment of existing Systems, modified or new Systems, and embodiment of COTS/MOTS Systems. Interaction with potential and actual customers, suppliers and team-mates. Systems input to subsystem specifications and interface requirement specifications. Presentation at internal and independent design/study reviews. Preparation and delivery of proposal material. Technical input to programme management and cost estimation teams. Technical risk assessment and reduction, including assessment of TPMs and TRLs. Additional/Occasional Duties and Tasks: Experience in complex systems integration projects within the military maritime business area. Systems architecture development capability. The ability to support systems engineering tasks - requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, systems integration and testing and trade studies is expected. The candidate will be required to have the intellectual calibre and confidence to conduct complex discussions with civilian and service customers and suppliers. The candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment The candidate will be capable of developing and communicating a vision for maritime programmes. The candidate will have an understanding of the technologies relevant to maritime navigation and combat systems. Must be a UK national with at least SC security clearance. Desired Skills for the Role: Operational experience in maritime combat and navigation systems engineering is highly desirable. Current knowledge of Defence and IMO standards. DV security clearance. Standard Job Description: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Typical Minimum Education & Experience: Ideally require Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically achieved through extensive professional experience.
