High School Liaison (HSL) Frosh Rep
Overview
HSL (High School Liaison) is a committee that bridges the gap between High School and
University for incoming Commerce students. We are a resource for high school students during
their application process, decision making process, and throughout the summer months leading
up to their first days of University. As a committee we help the Commerce Office organize and
run The Ontario University Fair, Fall Preview, March Break Open House, and SOAR (Summer
Orientation Program). We are looking for students who have a passion for Queen’s Commerce
and want to share their knowledge and experiences within the program to high school students!
We are looking for students that believe they can represent Queen’s Commerce best at all of our
events. If this sounds like you, please consider applying for a frosh representative position with
us!
Role of the First-Year Representative
Responsibilities:



Attend The Ontario University Fair, Fall Preview, March Break Open House, and
meetings throughout the year
Be able to speak publically in front of 80+ guardians and prospective students during
panel/information sessions
Actively take initiative to give Goodes Hall tours during events and private campus visits
Structure:


First-Year Representatives will report directly to the Co-Chairs of HSL
Bi-weekly meetings will take place throughout the school year
Recommended Skills and Characteristics:





Personable and outgoing student that is willing to speak in front of large crowds
Passion for Queen’s Commerce and Queen’s University in general
Effective oral and written communicator
Works well in a team environment
Quick thinker in order to respond to questions at events in a professional manner
