Dear Art Instructor,
You and your students are invited to participate in the 5th Art on the Bluffs Student Gallery to be held
Saturday, Sept 19, 2015 in Columbia, IL. The Student Gallery will be located at 124 S. Main Street at
Outdoor Décor’s portico. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons in both People’s Choice Awards and Judge’s
Choice Awards will be given in each age class as well as monetary awards and other participant
goodies. Winners do not need to be present. Images of the winning works of art will be shown on
the scrolling screen at Marie’s Ice Cream Shoppe, 1220 Columbia Center following the event.
We realize it is difficult for you to assist your students with submissions because our event occurs so
early in the school year. Therefore, we are trying a couple of new approaches this year. Please help
students with the submission paperwork and perhaps collecting/dropping off the artwork, but the
artwork can be something the student has done within the last year. Another hardship for some
participants was the framing requirement, so we have reworked this as well. Please note the new
submission requirements for the following age categories:
Ages 4-6 (Pre-K, K, 1st)
Coloring Page Pennant (download or pick up at distribution sites and schools) – color and cut out and
complete the submission information at the top of the pennant. These will be picked up from the
schools by Sept 15th and returned to the schools if not picked up between 5-6pm on Sept 19 at the
Student Gallery.
Ages 7-10, Ages 11-14:
All artwork in these age classes must be 2D on maximum size 9” x 12” paper of any kind and
mounted to 11” x 14” matt board, heavy construction paper or foam core. We will add Velcro to the
back to mount on the display walls in the Student Gallery. Submission form must be taped to the
back of the entry. Artwork must have been completed within the past year.
Artwork will be accepted from Thursday, Sept 3rd to Thursday, September 10th between 8am- 7pm at
the office of Dr. Joseph Cangas located at Illini Pediatrics, LLC., 109 W. Legion Ave., Columbia.
Artwork will be returned to the school listed on the submission form if the parents or child are
unable to pick it up between 5-6pm on Sept 19th at the Student Gallery
.
Ages 15-18, Ages 19-59, Ages 60 and over:
2D artwork - any medium, family friendly subject. Artist brings an easel or table easel, their artwork
and their submission form to the event for display. We will have some table easels for those who
don’t have them. Artwork must be delivered between 10-11am and picked up between 5-6pm on
Sept 19th at the Student Gallery. Alternatively, you may deliver to Outdoor Décor at 124 S. Main
Street between 11am-7pm on Sept 15 through 18th and make arrangements with Sue for pick up.
