We are happy to announce our special Christmas
Lunch Menu. We welcome all children to join us for
lunch on Thursday 17th December. If your child
usually has a packed lunch, but they want to join us,
please let the office know by Monday 14th December.
Investigations Week
Our Investigations week got
off to a magic start on
Monday morning with a
special Science Magic show
for all the children. The
children had
demonstrations of
invisibility and levitation as well as seeing a flaming tornado!
Throughout the week the children have been carrying out
investigations in maths, science, art and literacy. They have tested
flight paths of paper aeroplanes, tried different recipes for bread,
tested their taste buds and lots more.
Ask your child about what they have been doing – you might learn
something new.

Children’s Centre
As you may know, Haringey Local Authority ran a consultation between June and September
2015 about proposed changes to Children’s Centre services as a result of a £70 million
Government cut to the council budget including a £1.4 million cut to the Early Years budget by
2018. Governors of Rokesly Infants had to respond to the proposed changes and decided that if
the plans to cut services went ahead, the Governors would request Haringey Council to dedesignate as a Children's Centre. In our response we made it clear that we wanted to explore
options for continuing to run Children’s Centre services under a different model to the one
proposed, to ensure the delivery of safe and properly resourced services.
However, following the Council Cabinet meeting on 10/11/15, without any further discussion
with the school or our governing body, the Local Authority announced that Rokesly Children’s
Centre is to close at the request of the governing body. In our view, this is a misleading
message. We are urgently seeking a meeting with the Local Authority to discuss this and will
keep you informed.
The agreed changes to Children’s Centres in Haringey will mean the closure of the following
centres from April 2016:
Campsbourne Children’s Centre
 Bounds
 Stonecroft Children’s Centre
Green
 Earlsmead Children’s Centre
 The Ladder Children’s Centre
Children’s
 Noel Park Children’s Centre
 Rokesly Children’s Centre
Centre
 South Grove Children’s Centre
For more information, please read our Governors' letter to parents available at the centre or from the Children’s Centre
page on the school website. For information from Haringey Council on planned Children's Centre restructure and closures
please follow the link from the school website
Balance Bikes
The children and staff had a fun day learning to ride with balance
bikes last Friday. We had a coach visit to train staff and children as
part of our work on the School Travel Plan. The school will
purchase balance bikes to use in the Nursery and all Reception
classes to ensure that every child has an opportunity to learn this
valuable skill.
School Admissions consultation
Between 13th November and 31st December, Haringey Council are
carrying out a consultation on a change to the sibling rule for
Primary Schools. If agreed this will mean that a family who moves
after the admission of their first child to an address more than 0.5miles from the school will no longer be given priority
for a school place for younger siblings. The council proposes this change to ensure that local school places are available
for local families. It is also proposed as a deterrent to families who choose to live in an area for a short time with the
purpose of gaining access to a particular school. To have your say, visit the consultation page at:
www.haringey.gov.uk/admission-arrangements-consultation
Please be careful!
We love to be able to encourage children and parents to scoot and ride bikes to school. Please be careful in the busy
playground at drop-off and pick-up time and be sensitive to other parents and children. All children should dismount
bikes at the gate. We also provide a bike shed for all visitors so you do not need to push your bike around the building.
Don’t forget to check the website for news, information and other ways to support your child at home.
