DIFFA’S DINING BY DESIGN HITS NEW HEIGHTS
Spectacular Tabletop Display & Fundraiser Grows Into New Space
Pier 92, NYC
March 19 - 23
New York, NY (February 2015) - DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting
AIDS) will once again bring together a talented group of designers highlighting
the hottest new trends to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS at its 18th annual
DINING BY DESIGN (DBD) event. This year's edition (March 19 – 23) will be a
record-breaking one, as participation in the exhibit has grown so rapidly that it
has expanded into 30,000 square feet at Pier 92, co-located with the
Architectural Digest Home Design Show at Pier 94. As is the case each year, the
two shows offer a double dose of design as one ticket offers access to both
events.
Each year, DIFFA transforms a raw space into a showcase of magnificent, overthe-top dining environments in support of the cause. The stunning setting plays
host to a public viewing, as well as an ever-popular cocktail party and gala
dinner. New this year will be special DIFFA programming in the Architectural
Digest Home Design Show theater, as well as docent led tours of the dining
displays. The exhibit will feature 50 outstanding dining installations and counting
by Benjamin Moore & Cosentino designed by Tyler Wisler, Hickory Chair, Roche
Bobois Paris, Ralph Lauren Home, Beacon Hill designed by Corey Damon
Jenkins, Anthropologie, Kravet Inc. designed by Hunt Slonem, New York Design
Center designed by Marks & Frantz, Arteriors Home, Calvin Klein Home, Echo
Design, ESSIE by Robert Verdi, Horchow, M Moser, Moen, Rockwell Group,
Spin Ceramics designed by Kitty Hawks, Stacy Garcia New York, Hermès of
Paris, and many more. There will also be tables from leading New York City
design schools.
Johanna Osburn, executive director at DIFFA, remarks, “We are excited that
DINING BY DESIGN is back and bigger than ever this year. Whether it is our
longtime DIFFA benefactors or designers and brands that are joining us for the
first time, the demand to participate has been off the charts. Beyond making this
year’s DBD one for the books, we hope that this uptick in support is an indicator
of increased awareness. HIV/AIDS is still a critical issue, which affects the lives
of many. It is our goal to convey that message while offering a thought-provoking
and memorable design experience that helps raise much needed funds.”
After DINING BY DESIGN New York is completed, it will travel to cities across
the country. The nationwide DINING BY DESIGN tour has raised $17 million for
DIFFA and its regional chapters since its inception.
Media Sponsors include: Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Interior
