Council Meeting July 9, 2015
PLACE: The Council meeting of the Rural Community of Upper Miramichi was held in the Upper
Miramichi Community Centre on July 9, 2015 at 7 p.m.
ATTENDANCE: Mayor MA Douglas Munn, Councillor Keith Clowater, Councillor Grant Ross,
Councillor Dustin Munn and Councillor Ronald Fowler were in attendance.
1.
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor MA Douglas Munn called the meeting to order.
2.
AGENDA: It was moved by Councillor Clowater and seconded by Councillor Ross that the
agenda be approved with the addition of 5.2 Renovation Quote. Motion carried.
3.
NOTATION OF QUORUM: Mayor Munn noted that a quorum was present.
4.
DECLARATION OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST: No conflicts of interest were declared.
5.
NEW BUSINESS:
5.1
Rural Plan PRAC review – Mayor Munn explained the process of the Rural Plan and that the
PRAC is required to review it. It was moved by Councillor Munn and seconded by Councillor
Clowater to formally request the views of the Planning Review & Adjustment Committee as per
section 66 (1) of the Community Planning Act for the Rural Plan of the Rural Community of Upper
Miramichi.
5.2
Renovation Quote – Mayor Munn talked about the quotes for the renovations. He has tried
to get quotes from other contractors and was unsuccessful. It was moved by Councillor Clowater
and seconded by Councillor Munn to do all of the renovations to the Community Center by A&T
Hood at a cost of $52,000 with extras negotiated. Motion carried.
5.3
Rural Plan Committee – It was moved by Councillor Munn and seconded by Councillor
Clowater to present Melvin Hunter and Keith Gilks with $75.00 gift certificates for their
participation on the steering committee for the Rural Plan. Motion carried.
6.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next regular meeting will be held on July 27, 2015.

ADJOURNMENT: The motion to adjourn was made by Councillor Munn at 7:30 pm.
