Prince of Songkla University (PSU), named after and dedicated to His Royal Highness Prince
Mahidol of Songkla, was found in 1967 as the first university in southern Thailand. The original
aims of the university were to raise general education standards and to support regional industry and
development. Today, PSU is a leading university committed to academic excellence, reputable
research and innovation. It has significantly contributed to the development of the country and
consistently turned out well-qualified graduates of high-professional standing.
PSU is a multi-campus institution offering multifarious education programs to meet the needs of its
communities. It consists of five campuses as follows:
 Hat Yai Campus, main campus located in the city of Hat Yai, Songkla
 Pattani Campus, situated on seafront in Pattani, a center of diverse cultures and
traditions
 Phuket Campus, set on the island of Phuket, well-known for being a tourist attraction
and a center for hotel industry and services
 Surat Thani Campus, established in the cultural and economic center of the upper
southern provinces
 Trang Campus, situated on a plain in the most populated province of the West Coast of
the South.
Pattani Campus is located in Pattani, the Muslim center of the South and home of hundreds of
elegant mosques. Pattani Campus has seven faculties and one college.
