1. Mark, a well-respected church youth group leader of 22 years, has come to you because of a problem he
has with masturbation. He feels intensely guilty, shameful and hypocritical. How would you conduct therapy
for him? (Include in your answer a discussion of the link between sexuality and spirituality, normal and
abnormal sexuality, sexual immorality in Christian communities, and therapy issues). (1.1 – 1.4) (900-1500
words)
2. In therapy you find yourself sexually attracted to one of your clients. In trying to confront this ethical
dilemma you explore the incidence of sexual exploitation by therapists, its consequences and prevention, and
therapy issues for therapists who have succumbed to such sexual temptation. (2.1 – 2.3) (450-750 words)
3. Darren, a twenty year old, who was brought up in a Christian home, has been attracted to men since
adolescence and recently has been experimenting with different male partners. Discuss the causes of
homosexuality and outline a therapy plan, using the AIFC Sexual Therapy Model, setting out how you would
undertake therapy for Darren and make reference to sexually transmitted disease. (1.2) (450-750 words)
4. John and Therese, a middle-aged Christian couple, come to you for therapy for male erectile disorder.
Explain the disorder to them and outline a sexual therapy plan of how you would conduct therapy for the
couple using the AIFC Sexual Therapy Model. In your plan include references from Drs Tim Clinton and
Mark Laaser, “The Quick Reference Guide to Sexuality and Relationship Counselling” (3.1-3.4) (600-1000
