Law-Related Education at the Courthouse (James Bryne United States Courthouse)
Spend an up close and personal afternoon in court with federal judges at the James Byrne United States Courthouse, just
across Independence Park from the National Constitution Center. Rebecca Fanning, National Outreach Manager for the
Federal Courts, and David Trevaskis, Pennsylvania Bar Association, will facilitate and provide ready resources to take
home. Participate in a courtroom simulation -- presided over by a judge -- that involves everyone and every learning style.
Observe actual court proceedings and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the courthouse. Gain new insights during a Judge Chat
at which a judge answers your questions and opens up about what the job is really like. During the session, you‘ll learn how to
make local court connections in your community for programs like these and many others. You’ll leave the courthouse with
classroom-ready and courtroom-ready resources for immediate use.

Law Day 2016: Can you name all of your Miranda rights? OR Why do you think teaching about criminal procedure
is important?, ABA Division for Public Education—idea is to set up a video camera and allow people to try to name
all of the Miranda rights, then edit it together for a fun video that will appear on the Law Day website. Alternative is
to discuss importance, edit a more serious video clip and use on Law Day website.
