Genesis Young Leaders Board Positions November 2012 - December 2014 The Genesis Young Leaders (GYL) Board meets every other month January – December (6 total). Meetings are held at Genesis Outreach located at 4411 Lemmon Ave, Ste. 201 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. President(s): Mark and Heather LeClair The President(s) shall be the principal executive officer of the GYL and shall in general supervise and control all of the business and affairs of the GYL Auxiliary. They shall preside over all general and Board meetings. - Plan calendar - Create Board expectations - Create agendas - Run each Board meeting - Delegate tasks President(s)-Elect The President(s)-elect shall assist the President in their duties, preside in their absence, and assume the Presidency in the event that the President(s) is unable to complete their term of office. The President-elect shall automatically assume the office of the President the following year. - Assist Presidents - Participate in Board Nominations Membership Co-Chairs The membership co-chairs are responsible for setting membership goals and establishing a membership strategy for that year’s membership drive. The Membership Chairmen shall be responsible for overseeing all activities of the Membership committee, membership retention and the annual membership campaign of the Genesis Young Leaders. - Sign all membership letters - Ensure that all Board members submit 10 new names for membership - Work with PR/Tech Chair to promote GYL membership on social media sites - Follow up with perspective members - Highlight membership at events - Update Board on membership numbers Special Event Co-Chairs The GYL Special Event Co-chairs are responsible for the coordination of special events. - Coordinate 2 events per GYL membership year (Open House, Spring Happy Hour) - Work with Volunteer Coordinator to highlight volunteer opportunities that could coincide with GYL Special Events - Work with PR/Tech Chair to promote GYL events on social media sites Secretary/Treasurer The Secretary/Treasurer will combine the duties of a secretary and treasurer and will be responsible for the general records of the Young Leaders. This will include minutes and attendance at all Board meetings, correspondence for the general membership meetings, and any financial records for the membership. Volunteer Chair The Volunteer Chair will work directly with the Genesis Volunteer Coordinator educating the Young Leaders on volunteer opportunities. - Work with Special Event Coordinator to highlight volunteer opportunities that could coincide with GYL Special Events - Work with GYL Night Liaison, Fall Festival Chair and Fun Run Coordinator to get volunteers to events - Highlight volunteer opportunities at Board meetings - Work with PR/Tech Chair to promote GYL volunteer events on social media sites GYL Night Liaison The GYL Night Liaison will work directly with the Genesis Volunteer Coordinator coordinating the once monthly GYL Nights. GYL Nights take place at the shelter from 7-8pm on the second Wednesday of each month. - Coordinate volunteers for GYL Nights - Send reminders to GYL Night lead and volunteers - Help plan activities for GYL Nights Fall Festival Chair The Fall Festival Chair will work directly with the Genesis Volunteer Coordinator on planning the annual Fall Festival. The Fall Festival will occur on a Saturday from 10:30am-12pm in late October or early November - Plan activities and organize volunteers Public Relations Co-Chairs The Public Relations Chair shall be responsible for increasing the GYL presence on social networking sites and effectively communicate the purpose and goals of the GYL Group. - Highlight membership drive, special events, volunteer opportunities and other interesting stories on social media sites - Keep GYL presence on website up-to-date - Work with Genesis staff to ensure PR coverage for all volunteer and special events (including Fun Run). This includes pictures, press releases and follow up Members-At-Large The Members-At-Large will attend board meetings with the purpose of representing the general membership of Young Leaders. These members are assigned tasks from the President on an as needed basis throughout the year. Members-At-Large shall be assigned to the various committees of their choice that are overseen by the above Chairmen. Fun Run Logistics - In charge of Run details (route, timing, coordinating runners, working with racing system) - Ensure course has proper coverage (cones, police officers) - Oversee details and logistics of Run and pre/post race set up Fun Run Marketing Chair - Highlight Run on social media sites to increase coverage, media, and runners Highlight Run on strategic Blog sites Highlight Run on strategic “running sites” Find creative ways to market the Fun Run to increase runners Work with Genesis staff to ensure PR coverage for Run. This includes pictures, press releases, and followup Fun Run Kids Activities - Identify and execute creative ways to include children and children’s activities at the Fun Run (Kids K, bounce house, entertainment, face painting) Fun Run In-Kind Donations - Identify, solicit, and pick up in-kind donations for the Fun Run (food, cups, goodie bags, etc) Fun Run Special Events - Day of coordination of the Fun Run including sponsors, volunteers, vendors, racing system - Ensure that Fun Run follows timeline
