The benefits are insured by Unum Limited, which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. You will be advised if this applies to you. In any event, benefits are only payable insofar as the Company has been able to obtain cover and at a premium the Company considers reasonable. The Company is not liable for the benefit in the event that cover is refused by Unum or any conditions or limitations are applied by Unum. The Benefit is a lump sum of ......... times your Salary, payable if you suffer one of a number of critical illness events and survive for 14 days after its occurrence or diagnosis (6 months for Multiple Sclerosis). Critical Illness Events you are covered for are: Alzheimer’s Disease Cancer Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease (CJD) Heart Attack Hodgkin’s Disease Kidney Failure Major Organ Transplant Motor Neurone Disease Multiple Sclerosis Parkinson’s Disease Pre-Senile Dementia Stroke The insurance policy fully describes the critical illness events and their related conditions. Existing Illnesses are not covered. No benefit will be paid in respect of a critical illness or related condition with which you suffered a critical illness event prior to becoming a member. No benefit will be paid in respect of a critical illness where you have been treated for or had been aware of a related condition prior to the date of becoming a member. If you previously suffered a critical illness event no benefit will be paid for any further incidence of that critical illness. For this purpose: if you have already suffered or received a previous diagnosis of Heart Attack, Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts, Heart Transplant or Stroke, no benefit will be paid for any subsequent incidences of any of these critical illnesses or for the Major Organ Transplant critical illness. if you suffer or have previously suffered any malignant tumour(s) under the Cancer critical illness, no benefit will be paid in respect of any subsequent cancer whether or not such cancer is connected to or associated with the prior diagnosis of cancer. if you have received a previous diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, no benefit is payable under the Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts, Heart Attack, Kidney Failure, Major Organ Transplant or Stroke critical illnesses. Related conditions (except for a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus) will be disregarded if a period of 2 years has elapsed from the date of your becoming a member, without your suffering a covered critical illness event.
