Sarah Bedford (Layout Editor) Karli Doran (Sophomore Class Editor) It's that time of year again– the change in season, Friday night football games, and homecoming week!Lake-Lehman's 2010 Homecoming was a huge hit! The homecoming festivities began on Monday, September 27 with Spirit week. Spirit week started off with “Inside Out Day”, and continued with “Tye Dye Tuesday,'' “Clash Day,” “Twin Day,” and finally, “School Spirit Day.” The school week concluded with the pep rally Friday during 8 th period which was hosted by the Junior and Senior High cheer squad. After the National Anthem was preformed by the L-L band, the 2010-2011 Football players and cheerleaders were introduced. The introduction of the 2010 Homecoming court also took place. This years Homecoming Court was:Caity Wright, Erin Hohol, Julia Travis, Sara Hagenbach, Sarah Bray, and Selena Adamchick. The Homecoming Court for the guys included: Brandon Roberts, Chad Carey, Kyle Wesley, TJ LaBar and Zack Yurisha. The pep rally was nicely put together and very enjoyable. When asked, some students said the best part of the pep rally is the introduction of the Homecoming Court. We asked one student who their favorite Homecoming couple was and they said, “ Selena and Brandon, they went all out with the wigs. It was funny.” As tradition, the Homecoming Court dresses up as whoever they are coupled with. This also includes a funny introduction about each court member. The pep rally came to an end with a final performance by the cheerleaders. Continuing with the Homecoming festivities, Saturday was the main event. The day began with the Homecoming carnival at 10a.m. Different organizations throughout the school set up stands around the football stadium. There was plenty of food, fun and games for people of all ages. Some of the attractions at the Carnival included bake sales, face painting, and different vendors. Their was also live entertainment from the 2010 LLHS Marching Band, under the new direction of Mr. Alex Higgins. The carnival lasted throughout halftime during Saturday's game. Next on the agenda was the Homecoming Parade. The parade this year took off with a splash! No pun intended– this years Homecoming theme was “Under the Sea.” The Parade began at 12:30 at the Lehman Jackson Elementary School and continued back to the football stadium. Grades 9-12 were asked to create a float or banner that demonstrated this years theme. Every grade participated and showed immense amounts of creativity. The Parade Line-up began with the Lake-Lehman 2010 Cheerleaders, from varsity to mini-squad football. Following the cheerleaders were the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior floats. Each of them looked awesome! Finally, it was game time! Kick-off for Saturday's game against Meyers began at 2:00p.m.The 2010 Homecoming Queen was crowned at the start of the game. An appearance by last years Queen, Annie Van Scoy, took place and finally it was the moment of truth. The 2010 Lake Lehman Homecoming Queen was Caity Wright! Once the game officially began, it was no time before Lehman had received a touchdown on Meyers. By the end of the 4th quarter, the Black Knights came out victorious with a final score of 14-0 Lehman. This made our football record 4-1! Great job Knights! The excitement of the day wasn't over yet. The Homecoming dance began at 7:00p.m. and lasted till 9:30p.m. The cheerleaders decorated the gym in accordance to the “Under the Sea” theme and it looked fantastic! A mix of old and new music was played and tasty food was set out in a decorative way. After a few dances were in, it was time to announce the Homecoming King. After all the anticipation, the 2010 Homecoming King was Chad Carey! The dance was a success and roughly 140 people, in grades 9-12,showed up. All in all,the 2010 Homecoming week, pep rally, parade, football game and the dance were all very successful! Thanks to all who participated and volunteer to help! Congratulations again to the 2010 Homecoming King and Queen, Caity Wright and Chad Carey and our Lake Lehman High School football team for that well deserved victory against Meyers!
