Connecting Communities to UCLA- January 26th
“CCU Launch”
CCU is a multi-faceted program which connects UCLA’s campus to the greater Los
Angeles community. The mission of CCU is to enhance the relationship between UCLA,
community groups, faith-based organizations, and schools located in underserved
communities. The program offers community-engaging events such as campus tours,
admission workshops, college majors and campus life exploration, career workshops,
and other such topics of interest.

“Just the Girls”
Just the Girls day will engage issues that specifically affect females in education. The

The Bruin Speakers Series is a career focused program that targets scholars living in
the city of Los Angeles. The day will focus on the many career possibilities and impact
of underrepresented populations in medicine and science. The program will include a
motivational speaker as well as two diversified career panels. The panel includes
representatives from Medicine, Nursing, Medical School, Dentistry, Surgeons, and
Research. This event is invitation only.

“Letter of the Law” and “LA’s Best”
Bruin Speakers Series is a career focused program that targets scholars living in the
city of Los Angeles. LA’s Best is a nationally recognized after school education,
enrichment and recreation program serving more than 26,000 children with the greatest
needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles. Duel programs will run
on this day. The first program will focus on the many career possibilities and impacts of
underrepresented populations in the legal field and diversified uses of a Juris Doctorate
degree. The LA’s Best program will target program participants and provide career,
college and campus life exploration. This day is by invitation only.

city of Los Angeles. A panel of local Entrepreneurs, Business Managers, and Financial
Analysts will speak about the world of business and money and how it relates to
underrepresented populations. Co-programmed with Anderson School of Business and
Black Business association, Riordan Fellows Program, and business owners from
Liemert Part will be invited.

“Parents Weekend”
This day will be geared towards parents and how they can plan, prepare and pay for
their children to go to college. Topics will include financial aid, planning, supporting

financial aid. Parent groups and PTA’s from around the city will be invited.

Every spring potential transfer students from California Community Colleges will come
to campus for a transfer day. The day will help students formulate transfer plans, and
meet face-to-face with admissions officers to determine transfer eligibility.
