East Side Intermediate School 401 View Vista Drive Livingston, MT 59047 (406)222-1773 FAX: (406)222-5243 Robert J. Stevenson, Principal Dear East Side Parents, I extend my appreciation to you all for your help and support in what has been a great launch into the 2014-2015 school year. Throughout last year, I held periodic forums for parents to come in for discussions on a variety of topics. My hope was that this setting would serve as an opportunity for me to learn more about our student and parent needs and provide a venue for parents to share ideas, voice concerns, and learn more about what is happening at East Side School. Topics in the past have included programming, instruction, curriculum, safety, culture and a variety of others. I enjoyed very much the richness of these discussions. I would like to invite you to our first Parent/Principal Forum Tuesday, September 16th, from 5:00 – 6:30 in the East Side Library. I will begin with an East Side “State of the Union” on current happenings at the school. Over the summer, I read several books looking to find a piece of work that would provide a stimulating group study on emotional and cognitive development. Ellen Galinsky has written, what I find to be, a very informative work that appeals to both parents and teachers alike; Mind in the Making: Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs. I will be sharing this book with the group and look forward to continued discussions on its contents. I have scheduled six dates throughout the year for Husky Principal/Parent Forums. All these gatherings will take place in the East Side Library from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. Reminders will be sent out prior to each meeting. At this time, meetings have been scheduled for September 16th, November 18th, January 27th, March 24th, May 5th, and June 9th. Finally, check out the East Side Website: The East Side Intermediate website can be accessed through our district website, www.livingston.k12.mt.us .
