NEWCASTLE TENNIS CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON THE 16/06/14 PRESENT J. DRAYNE, J.MCLISTER, ANN GEORGE, T. O’REILLY, P.CAVANAN, J. MOORE, J. FLANIGAN, P. CORRIGAN, J. WILSON AND S. DOHERTY. APOLOGIES D. GORMAN AND R. CORRIGAN 1. The minutes of the last meeting were unanimously accepted as an accurate account. They were proposed by T. O’Reilly and seconded by the chair. 2. Open Day. P. Corrigan gave a progress report on the Open Day. He has ordered two banners and two and a half thousand leaflets to be distributed around the town and in local schools. He talked to the Council about use of the courts on a Saturday, they can’t see any problems. We could facilitate any members of the public by inviting them to participate free of charge at the Open Day. Patrick informed the committee that the Council had contributed £200 towards the Open Day. This he stated would go along way in covering the costs of the day. The chair thanked the Council. Patrick talked about discounted membership fees for people who came to the Open Day and wanted to join the club. After a long discussion it was decided to charge new members, for one week after the Open Day the following rates. Seniors £40. Students £20. Families £80. This was proposed by the chair and seconded by the secretary. It was carried unanimously. The secretary stated that he would contact Sam Clegg and Jane McIlwrath to see if they were available. The secretary also stated that he would contact senior members to see if they would be available to help out on Open Day. Names would be e-mailed to the P.R.O. 3. Internal leagues. Unfortunately Rachel was in Ballycastle with a junior team so Patrick outlined the structure of the ladder and distributed a very informative handout on procedures. Patrick stated that he needed the passwords for facebook and the club website. Paul Canavan said he would sort that out. All members to be contacted as regards the ladder by e-mail, facebook, the club website and word of mouth. 4. Climbing paint. The secretary stated that there was a problem with people climbing over the gates and playing football on the courts. A local painter Robert Brennan has quoted a price of around £100 to paint the tops of the gates and corners of courts with anti-climbing paint. The committee agreed to go ahead with the painting.
