Association of Fundraising Professionals Eastern Oklahoma Chapter Membership Meeting September 6, 2007 OSU-Tulsa President Nancy Hatfield called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m. She welcomed members and guests and noted that our speaker today is terrific. She thanked guests for attending and encouraged them to get involved with AFP as it would be a great growing experience. President-elect Pam Richardson asked guests at each table to introduce themselves. Donna Stidham, VP-Membership introduced the following new members: Toni Moore, Hospitality House of Tulsa; Paula Hughes Cortner, National MS Society-Oklahoma Chapter; Jeanette North, Owasso Community Resources; Leah Opitz, Price Tower Arts Center; Lucy Willis, Tulsa Boys Home; Jennifer Miller, Tulsa Autism Foundation; Meredith Miers, OK Medical Research Foundation; Lindsay Anderson, Tulsa Zoo Friends, Inc.; Paula Gray, Hilti; Melissa Craig, Youth Services of Tulsa; and Erica Irvine, Junior Achievement of Eastern Oklahoma. Claudia Meiling won today’s door prize, a YMCA bag filled with giant mugs and an address book donated by the YMCA. Minutes A motion to approve the minutes from the June 7, 2007 meeting was made by Pam Richardson and seconded by Lori Mathis. The motion was approved. Treasurer’s Report Copies of the treasurer’s report were available at the tables. President Hatfield acknowledged Lori Mathis and asked that questions be directed to her. Announcements Fay Palma encouraged members to complete the National Philanthropy Day Award Nomination Forms and return to her by the September 20 deadline. She noted that AFP members along with others have been asked to submit nominations for the following: Outstanding Philanthropist, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser, Outstanding Fundraising Executive and Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy. President Hatfield announced that National Philanthropy Day and the Annual Conference are scheduled for November 29. Steve Mason reminded members of the Every Member Campaign and noted that he will be sending letters and a donation form to us sometime in the next 6 weeks. He mentioned that 10% of the membership has already contributed and/or pledged over $1,000 and thanked those who have done so. The next audioconference Turning Passion into Action: Creating a Rainmaker Board is scheduled for September 20. Please RSVP to Marcia Graham if you would like to attend. Program Karen Senger, Programs Co-chair announced that Sue Mosher had a baby girl in August and has named her Amanda Kate. She thanked Amy Miller for arranging today’s program and reminded the membership of upcoming programs for the remainder of the year. September Membership Meeting Minutes – Page Two Ms. Senger introduced Sandra Walling LeVan, Non-Profit Planners, who discussed the practice of sustainability planning. Sustainability planning requires your organizational leadership to clarify where you are and where you want to go, develop strategies for long term success, provide benchmarks to measure progress and demonstrate to partners and other stakeholders the value of services. President Hatfield thanked Ms. LeVan for her very informative presentation. She announced that an honorarium to the charity of her choice would be given as a thank you. Ms. LeVan noted that she would like her honorarium to be given to OK Policy, a spin off of Community Action Project.
