Copeland Scroll™ Variable Speed Models For
Commercial And Residential Comfort Applications



AACHEN (GERMANY), October 15, 2014 – Environmental impact, reduction of carbon
footprint and energy consumption are key topics at this year’s Chillventa trade show. New
legislation such as the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) directive, the Renewable
Energy Sources (RES) directive and Ecodesign have been implemented to improve the use
of primary energy and promote energy efficiency in heating and cooling systems. Emerson
Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) presents three ranges of
Copeland Scroll compressors with Variable Speed technology for heating and reversible
systems. Copeland Scroll Variable Speed technology enables system manufacturers to
comply with efficiency regulations while providing considerable energy savings.
Copeland Scroll ZPV Variable Speed range, with models from ZPV018 to ZPV063 (3 to
38kW cooling capacity) provides superior performance when used for reversible chillers, low
temperature heat pumps, precision cooling systems or rooftops. The larger ZPV063 model
can reach a capacity up to 64kW when used as a qualified tandem assembly. The launch of
the ZPV096 model early 2016 will extend the capacity range up to 85 kW per circuit.
On the other hand, the ZHV and ZHW Variable Speed ranges are optimized for heating
applications. Copeland Scroll ZHV compressors are designed for reversible heat pumps.
The ZHV021 and ZHV034 models of this range (3 to 17 kW heating capacity) will be
available later this year. ZHW models are ideal for heating dedicated applications. They
benefit from an optimized scroll as well as from Enhanced Vapor Injection which increase
their range of operation. Copeland Scroll Variable Speed ZHW015 and ZHW030 (3 to 20kW
heating capacity) will be available early 2015.
Copeland Scroll Variable Speed compressors are offered as an Emerson solution with
close-coupled Emerson inverter drives. This allows system manufacturers to save
development time while ensuring safety and reliability.
