Emerson Climate Technologies Launches
the World’s Largest Scroll Compressor



For commercial chiller systems up to 1 MW

AACHEN (GERMANY), March 18, 2014 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of
Emerson (NYSE: EMR), has launched the world’s largest R410A scroll compressor, a
60hp Copeland Scroll™ compressor for commercial air conditioning applications.
The new Copeland Scroll ZP725K has a capacity of 158 kW*, making it ideal for large
chillers with a capacity up to 1 MW if air-cooled and up to 1.25 MW if water-cooled. A
variety of Copeland™ qualified tandem and trio configurations with the 60hp compressor
enable circuits up to 500 kW with a wide capacity modulation range. Manufacturers that
produce systems with different capacities benefit from added flexibility and from lower
costs by keeping fewer models in stock.
In designing this compressor, Emerson Climate Technologies expanded the use of R410A
in large commercial air conditioning systems. Publications from the Eurovent directory
demonstrate that, seasonally, the systems with scroll technologies and R410A perform
better overall compared to similar systems using different refrigerants and compressor
technologies. In addition Scroll technology is superior to Screws in the heating mode.
In addition to Copeland Scroll’s proven reliability and efficiency, end-users gain the peace
of mind of having real-time communications and diagnostics on board. The 60hp, large
commercial Copeland Scroll compressor equipped with the CoreSense™ Communications
electronic module can stream real-time diagnostics on the compressor's operation to the
system controller. CoreSense algorithms gather valuable data from the compressor and
use it to identify system faults. This information improves performance and reliability,
including proactively shutting down the compressor to prevent a serious failure.
