A Tale of Two Cities Final Project List Below is a list of final projects. Some projects are designed for group work, and others are designed for individuals. You may choose any of the following, or you may propose an idea of your own. If you have an idea, it must be approved by your teacher. All of your will present your projects to the class on or shortly after the due date. Individual Projects Create a line of greeting cards: one apology, two love, one father/daughter, two sympathy, and one friendship. You may import pictures or cut them from a coloring book or magazine, but the sayings in the cards must be your own. All of your cards must be addressed to and sent by characters in the novel. Create a newspaper for the book including some the major events that happen. Remember to create a title for your newspaper! If you choose this project, you must have a total of at least five articles. This project must resemble the format of a real newspaper. Build a model of the Bastille. In the center of the Bastille, there should be a method of execution, and there should be prisoners in the jail cells. color. Choose one of the characters in the book and create a monologue for him/her about some event in his/her life. This monologue must be memorized and performed. Create a comic strip depicting important scene(s) in the novel. Write a love poem from Sydney to Lucie. Your poem should be at least ten lines long. Create a board game about the novel. Create a diary for one of the characters that reveals his/her inner most thoughts during the major events of the novel. Choose a scene to illustrate and read the related passages carefully. Then create an illustration using any medium you choose. Below your illustration, write a descriptive line from the novel to identify the scene. Write a eulogy for one of the characters who loses his/her life in the novel. Write an alternative ending for the novel. Introduce your new ending with an explanation for why you think the ending should be revised. Imagine that you are the costume designer for a stage or Hollywood production of the novel. Design costumes for each of the characters. Your portfolio should contain at least eight costumes. Create a scrapbook for one of the characters. Create a brochure starting a revolution in a country where there is currently a dictator. In an essay, analyze information by comparing and contrasting the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the American Declaration of Independence. Create an original political cartoon about the French Revolution. Create a timeline delineating the major events of the French Revolution from the Storming of the Bastille and ending with Napoleon’s rise to power. Group Projects Create an audio or video podcast about one of the major events in the novel. Compose a song (with or without lyrics) about the novel or the characters. You must either record your song or perform it live. Pretend you are famous playwrights and a major producer has asked you to write the script for film or play version of A Tale of Two Cities. Choose your favorite scene, write the script, and perform it for the class. Create a web page for one of the characters from the novel. When you are creating your web page, you should imagine that you are the character and include information on the page that reflects the character's personalities and interests. Pretend you are photojournalists. Create a portfolio of photos that catalogue the major events of the novel. Each picture should contain a caption that identifies the people or location and describes the event. Your portfolio should contain at least ten pictures.
