Cabinet – November 2010 Queensland’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Strategy 2010-2020 Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability 1. Queensland’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Strategy 2010-2020 (the Strategy) provides a long-term strategic direction for waste management and resource recovery over the next 10 years. 2. The goals of the Strategy are to: reduce waste; optimise recovery and recycling; and develop sustainable waste industries and sustainable jobs. 3. To achieve the goals, the Strategy is supported by five key elements. These include: setting targets and priorities; introducing a price signal; strengthening legislation; delivering programs and actions that target priorities; and fostering partnerships to deliver behavioural change. 4. Cabinet approved the release of Queensland’s Waste Reduction and Recycling Strategy 2010-2020. 5. Cabinet approved the release of a Regulatory Assessment Statement, including a costbenefit analysis on a price signal for landfill waste, for public consultation. 6.
