SEEMA SHARMA MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIPS IN INDIA STUDIES
Applications are invited for scholarships for undergraduate students taking courses in
India Studies during academic year 2011-2012.
Number and Amount of the Awards:
Two scholarships are awarded, each worth $500. The scholarship amount will be
distributed over two semesters in the amount of $250 per semester.
Qualifications:
a. Must be a full-time undergraduate student at Stony Brook
b. Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
c. Students with demonstrated financial need will receive preference
Requirements:
a. Must enroll in at least one course in India Studies per semester
b. Must receive a grade of B or better in India Studies courses
Procedure:
a. Fill out the application form available from the Center for India Studies
b. Attach a formal or informal transcript
c. Attach a sealed letter of recommendation from a faculty member
d. Attach evidence of financial need, if any
Deadline: Submit completed forms with attachments to the Center for India Studies
by March 1, 2012. Awards will be announced on March 15, 2012.

VINEET JOHNSINGH MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIPS IN INDIA STUDIES
Applications are invited for scholarships for undergraduate students taking courses in India Studies
during academic year 2011-2012.
The annual Vineet Johnsingh scholarship is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding
academic potential and promise of contribution to the fostering of a better understanding of Indian
civilization.
Award: $750
Qualifications:
a. Must be a full-time undergraduate student at Stony Brook
b. Minimum GPA of 3.5 or above
c. Students with demonstrated financial need will receive preference
Requirements:
a.
Must enroll in at least one course in India Studies per semester during the academic year for
which the scholarship us awarded.
b.
Must receive a grade of B or better in India Studies courses
Procedure:
a. Fill out the application form available from the Center for India Studies
b. Attach a formal or informal transcript
c. Attach a sealed letter of recommendation from a faculty member
d. Attach evidence of financial need, if any
