ALGEBRA I - This course is designed to help students solve problems more easily and to develop skills in problem solving. It is essential for the student who plans to continue in a math related field or plans to attend college. Algebra I begins with a review of the rational numbers, and irrational numbers to complete the real number system. Variables and solving equations are introduced at an early stage and their use continued throughout the course. Practical applications are presented throughout the book to give the student an opportunity to apply the material covered. This is a two-semester course equivalent to one credit towards graduation if completed with a passing grade.
PLANE GEOMETRY - This course is designed to help the student better understand and appreciate the basic structure of geometry and to develop powers of spatial visualization. Geometry should also help the student strengthen basic algebra skills. The student will gain a basic understanding of methods of coordinate geometry and thus recognize the way in which algebra and geometry complement each other. This course will help the student perceive the role of inductive and deductive reasoning in both mathematical and non-mathematical situations. The student will learn to understand and develop an organized proof. Most of the time is spent studying the properties of plane geometric figures such as: square, rectangle, triangle, circle, etc. After completing the work with plane figures the remaining time will be spent studying the properties of solids such as: prisms, cones, spheres, cylinders, etc.
ALGEBRA II - This course is set up to help the student to understand algebra as a study of the structure of the systems of real and complex numbers and to recognize the techniques of algebra as reflections of this structure.

Algebra II first reviews the basic skills taught in Algebra I while extending these to enable the student to solve more difficult problems. It then introduces the student to the function concept and shows its importance in mathematics. Finally, it prepares the student for Senior Math by introducing him to Analytic Geometry. A good review of the basic terminology, notation, concepts, skills, and applications of elementary algebra are provided through a critical examination of the structure of the real number system. In reviewing old procedures and learning new ones, students study not only "What You Do" and "How You Do It," but also "Why You Do It."
The emphasis in this course is on teaching equation solving and its application to the solution of word problems.
PRE-CALC (COLLEGE ALG.)/TRIG.- This course is designed to provide a solid preparation for the student who intends to continue his/her study of mathematics. This course is divided into two sections. The first semester will consist of College Algebra, which can be taken for 3 hours of duel college credit through ICC.
Topics covered will include quadratic equations and inequalities, systems, functions, rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and matrices. Students wishing to enroll for college credit must complete Algebra II with a C average and pass an entrance exam. The course may also be taken for high school credit only. The second semester will consist of Trigonometry and those Pre-Calculus concepts not covered in the first semester. These will include conic sections, triangle Trigonometry, Trig graphs and identities, and Trig applications. These courses will prepare students for post-secondary studies as well as illustrate the uses of mathematics in every day life.
CALCULUS/STATISTICS - This course will cover differential and intregal calculus of functions of one real variable. It is designed for prospective mathematics majors as well as for students whose primary interest is in engineering, the physical and social sciences, or non-technical fields. After completing the essentials of calculus, the course will cover topics in statistics using the graphing calculator. Pre-calculus is a pre-requisite for this year course.
REAL WORLD MATH – This class is teacher recommended for grade 12 students to meet a 3 rd math requirement for graduation and will cover basic math survival skills, such as writing checks, balancing checkbooks, determining weekly pay rate, developing a budget, while also stressing essential consumer topics including insurance, credit, and wise purchasing practices. This also satisfies CRM requirement. Seniors only.
STANDARDS MATH - This course is designed to aid the student in the transition from Algebra I to
Geometry. It will consist of four units including: Number Sense/Computation, Algebra, Geometry, and interpreting Data. The course will use a variety of numerical and real world application problems to illustrate these topics.
FUNDAMENTAL MATH- Support class. Closed enrollment/Students will be enrolled by identified criteria.
